What a career!
You're probably used to the Annie Lennox of the '80s as I was: Domineering, avant-garde, in-your-face brash and unashamed with a wicked orange crewcut to top it all off. What really shames me is that as Pop/Rock-oriented/obsessed as I was in my high school/college years, I never gave Annie the due she deserved for her wise, soulful, diva-esque lyrics and singing style. 'Diva' is the album that points my folly in my face, and justifiably so: Though the main hooks of the album were its hits "Why" and "Walking On Broken Glass", once you listen to the rest of 'Diva', you discover how hollow the music market really is: Every track is a masterpiece, written profoundly, sung unashamedly and soulfully, and mastered clearly, to pierce you to the core. Well, almost every track: "Keep Young And ... This CD got a workout while driving from Seattle to Edmonton, Alberta in the Summer of 2004: Once north of Kamloops and on the wilds of the sparsely-traveled, heavily-forested Yellowhead Highway en route to Jasper, the T-tops were off and 'Diva' was set to play on repeat, and loud. My apologies to the various fauna along the way, including several deer, elk, moose and one black bear. Annie clearly earned and deserves the title of Diva among the greats of the world with her wide octave range that rivals or perhaps surpasses that of Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald. But this review is not about comparison with other greats: It's about her and giving her the dues she's paid for. Another addition of my permanent collection, it'd make a perfect addition to yours, too.

Older Annie Lennox CD --- yet worth the price
Annie Lennox was part of the group "The Eurythmics" for numerous years, and when the group disbanded, Ms. Lennox decided to begin a solo career. Although this CD is one of her older CD's, it is still quite wonderful and shows a style that Ms. Lennox is known for --- the CD has some really decent songs on it (that became part of the Top 40's countdown) and it isn't hard to hear why this is so! Her style is very much her own, and she is still very popular today --- The CD is worth the price that was asked for it, and I'm thrilled that it is now part of my collection. Reaches down into your soul
There is just something about her incredible voice that haunts a person. If you like her music at all, this older collection is still the best of her best. I saw her on TV sing "Why" while she played the piano and was captured by the emotion she puts into her music. Anyone who has ever seen an interview by her can appreciate the fact that she's not just another ditzy pop diva...she is intelligent and well spoken, and knows how to put together songs that move you soul... Highly recommend to anyone who may be in the mood for some soulful music with a twist of pop added for variety...There is just something about her incredible voice that haunts a person. This cd by Diva Annie Lennox is unexplainable...it's a legend. It could make you cry. It could make you dance. It could make you laugh. Annie really is the one and only pop diva of all times. I cannot even put into words...her voice...so stunning. After reading a couple of her bios i know these songs are all about her life experiences. A very complex individual is really sharing her life with the world though her music. Live on Annie. There aren't enough stars in the heavens to rate her.This cd by Diva Annie Lennox is unexplainable...it's a legend. It could make you cry. It could make you dance. It could make you laugh. Love it; Charish it! A must buy for Annie Lovers!
I loved this CD when it was a cassette tape. I lost my first and this CD is a updated replacement. This CD is what made me pay attention to who Annnie Lennox was. I love her, I get her style and underlying divalicious personality. This CD is lovely, fun and a road trip must! Unlike these new singers on the block, Annie Lennox is a true singing Diva that everyone can enjoy and appreciate.
