Guide useful in teaching Black History
This is a must have book for collectors. It is easy to use and I have found it to be very helpful teaching black history in both local schools and public libraries. The full color pages captivates the eyes while the easy to use identification guide provides necessary information for of all my students. I have encouraged twenty libraries and 17 school systems to order a copy for thier use. Linking African American history with black doll history is a unique teaching experience and made possible with the Definitive Guide to Black Doll collecting. I wish to thank Ms. Garrett for her work and am loooking forward to the next book. Debra Britt, Founder Doll E. The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls
Books about Black Dolls are very difficult to find. This book is a must have for collectors and fans of Black Dolls. This book is very easy to read with beautiful pictures therefore it can be enjoyed by all ages. It can be enjoyed by the beginning collector as well as advanced collector. There is information about paperdolls, barbie,my twinn, cloth, and dolls you can't even imagine. Please be aware, after I purchased this book I became so enthusiastic in my doll collecting that my collection nearly quadrupled in size. I highly recommend this book, because I continue to thoroughly enjoy it.Books about Black Dolls are very difficult to find. This book is a must have for collectors and fans of Black Dolls. The title tells the story of its contents-good book.
The reason I bought the book is that I have gotten a few black dolls from ebay to repair. I wanted to know who the makers were etc. Also when I was a little girl I ended up with a black doll-don't know if they sent my Mom the wrong one or what-I thought there was something the matter with the doll as I had never seen a black person before, therefor I named her Hurt. I'll never forget her-she ment a lot to me, so I've wanted to get a couple to repair & give a chance for someone else to enjoy. I thought the book would be of great assistance in this matter. It really is a good book. I feel it will help me to identify the makers & be able to make the dolls look near like they did when they were made.The reason I bought the book is that I have gotten a few black dolls from ebay to repair. The book includes great descriptions, beautiful pictures and helpful valuations of the dolls included. It could prove to be very helpful for the beginning collector but is also a great resource for experinced collectors. Because of the great pictures it also makes a great "Coffee Table" book.Written by Debbie Garrett, an experienced and serious collector, the book is a wonderful resource of information about black dolls.
