Well written, non sensational story of tv star Raymond Burr (Perry Mason, Ironside). This man was gay when "coming out" would have meant the end of his career. He had the support of gossip columnist Hedda Hopper, mother of William Hopper, who played detective Paul Drake in the Perry Mason series. Burr was talented off screen also, and invested his money wisely. He was a legendary gourmet cook. He brought and developed his own vineyard. He also loved orchids and propagated many new species of them. A complex, talented, strong man, his story is very interesting.Well written, non sensational story of tv star Raymond Burr (Perry Mason, Ironside). Disappointed
I was expecting to read a more in depth look into Raymond Burr but the author seems to be fixated on the actors weight. He goes out of his way to discuss it for some unknown reason. For the most part you already know about Mr Burrs life so I would skip this book.
