Product Information

Based on the novel of the same name by Gerald Petievich, THE SENTINEL offers a rare look at the world of the Secret Service and questions what would happen if an insider were involved in a plot to kill the President of the United States. Agent Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) has earned his stripes and is a fixture in the Secret Service. In 1981, he took a bullet during the assassination attempt on President Reagan. More than twenty years later, he is an essential element in the first line of defense for current first lady Sarah Ballentine (Kim Basinger). But Garrison has some secrets--secrets that could end his career if they were discovered. When a plot to assassinate President John Ballentine (David Rasche) is suspected, Garrison finds himself the primary suspect. Heading the investigation is Agent David Breckenridge (Kiefer Sutherland), who is convinced that Garrison--his former best friend and mentor--slept with his wife. With the help of rookie agent Jill Marin (Eva Longoria), who was trained by Garrison, Breckenridge is determined to crack the case and keep the president safe--even if it means taking Garrison down.When accused of treason, Garrison leads Breckenridge and the other agents on a wild chase and the truth becomes more and more twisted. Is Garrison running in order to escape, or is he trying to prove his innocence while protecting his secrets? Can Breckenridge put aside his old grudge and make decisions based strictly on the evidence presented? Will Marin's allegiance remain with her new supervisor, or with Garrison, the field instructor who recommended her for her new assignment? Most important, can the agents uncover the truth before more of their colleagues--and the president--die? Directed by Clark Johnson (S.W.A.T.), who appears as Agent Charlie Merriweather, the film also features Martin Donovan, Ritchie Coster and Blair Brown.

    An Okay Movie

    This movie isn't the best movie we've seen. It does make a good rental movie. The story line is plausible enough - although a mole in the Secret Service has never happened. To be able to watch this movie, you have to allow that it is plausible enough that it could possibly happen. Although we understand that certain things have to happen in order for the story line to continue, you may be left wondering how Secret Service agents could let one man - albeit another Secret Service agent - get through their fingers. It is a bit disconcerting knowing what we do know about the Secret Severvice. The best part of this movie is actually the bonus features. We enjoyed the behind the scenes look at retired Secret Service agents in action. It gave us an appreciation for their job and the ...

    The Sentinel Sizzles With Veteran Actors And Good Plot

    For those who really appreciate films that gather top Box Office Draws From Yesteryear, this film really sizzles with Michael Douglas and Kim Basinger as secret lovers hiding there feelings in the most unsuspecting way. Although The Sentinel was a remake, the story by Gerald Petievich seems to be just as powerful todays as it was when it first hit the screen. Pete Garrision (Michael Douglas) works for Secret Service in a high ranking capacity and is duly trusted by his President and his peers, however, he has a big secret. He's having an affair with First Lady Sarah Ballentin (Kim Basinger). If discovered, he could lose his well earned stripes as a permanent fixture in the Secret Service ever since he took a bullet for President Ronald Reagan.     Good evening in...

    This was one of the better shoot-em-up, we have a mole in the secret service action dramas! Great acting with a lot of high powered names in the starring roles. I definitely recommend this one. The only reason it did not get an excellent was because it was a tad bit short of SPY GAME, my all time favorite! And that other great one with Gene Hackman and Will Smith... where they were using the satellites to spy on people and track them... In any case, this one is definitely worth watching.

    wonderful crooked goverment movie

    i ahve to say this is five stars..its not that the action was great or anything but the story was...I love movie having to do with president security etc..If you like movies about thw white house, cia, president security, crooked cops, or men in blue gone bad then this is one for you to watch.. i loved it.. this movie had great actors and was a pleasure to watch.. it shows us how noone is safe in life, trust no one and anything can happen at anytime.. not to mention a secret affair too... this movie from start to finish has you thinking who is the bad CIA agent you will guess and guess and still not get it .. and then the one that is a good cia agent gets targeted.. please add the movie to your collection and watch it i am sure if you like what i listed above in movies then you will ...

    . SURPISINGLY SUSPENSEFUL MOVIE!

    The Sentinel has a really great cast! Thought that it was okay. Could've had more chase and action scenes.
