A Meditative Version of Buckethead
I started buying Buckethead music after running across Pike 18 on YouTube. I checked out the other Pike works. Because the Pike albums are limited, they are rather expensive ($50+) and out of my price range. So I began checking his studio albums. Buckethead’s works vary quite a bit—-from heavy and medium shredding to the lighter progressive sounds that create a meditative ambience, like Electric Tears. I tend to divide his works into light, medium, and heavy. Some, maybe even most, albums have a mixture of two or three of the types. The most varied albums are Pike 8, 9, 10, and 11. All of these albums have a futuristic tone to them. If you like the heavy (heavy and medium-to-heavy), check out It’s Alive (Pike 1), Empty Space (Pike 2), 3 Foot Clearance (Pike 3), Balloon Cement ... If you like the medium (and light to medium), check out Look Up There (Pike 5), Pike 16 (alt-metal), March of the Slunks (Pike 9), Crime Slunk Scene, and The Day of the Robot. If you like the light, check out Electric Tears, Pike 18 (alt-rock), Pearson’s Square (Pike 31) (alt-rock), Population Override, Colma (a beautiful, mellow album with ambient tracks interspersed with dynamic guitar runs), and Electric Sea. I tend to enjoy the more relaxing/meditation works with a tinge of jazz and progressive sound; thus, I recommend the light and medium, but after several listens to his works, I basically find jewels on most albums. Buckethead is an excellent guitarist. The bucket and mask seems suited for the young set and concert goers. I like most of his concert music. I am only turned off by that with the drum machine.

Amazing, a softer side ot buckethead, a bit redundant
Definitely a more soft, emotional side to Buckethead, rather than the power-shredder we are used to. Highlights of the album are Sketches of Spain, Padmasana, Angel Monster, Electric Tears, and Spell of the Gypsies. All the other songs are merely pleasant, generally with a main chord-oriented riff, with soloing and noodling, which can honestly get a little boring. But, if you like, this, Colma is also highly recommended, which provides a bit more melody and has a bit of variation with some faster pieces.Definitely a more soft, emotional side to Buckethead, rather than the power-shredder we are used to. Good, not quite a masterpiece
ELECTRIC TEARS has some gorgeous playing my our man Buckethead, but it is a bit overlong and same-sounding in musical texture. Having said that, "The Way Up To Heaven" is a stone-cold classic, on a par with "Aunt Suzie" and other mellow masterpieces. Recommended with slight reservations.

buckethead- electric tears
Buckethead is one of the top ten guitarists in the wold. This cd is all instrumental acustic and some electric songs without background help. He does it all. This the soft side of Buckethead, no shredding at all. This vey comfortably relaxed laid back guitar!
