À propos de ce produit

Product Information

For a drive capable of handling demanding applications, the 2TB RE4 SATA Hard Disk Drive by Western Digital Enterprise (WD2003FYYS) can be a wise and reliable choice. Its speed and convenience in transferring data seamlessly are due to the 7200RPM internal hard drive, its SATA 3.0 interface, and 64MB buffer cache. Data transfers with this drive can reach rates up to 6 GB/s. Further, this WD HDD supports RAFF technology, which can be effective in rectifying linear and rotational vibration in real time. If you are concerned about the ability to detect and compensate for shock events and the protection of data, the Western Digital Enterprise 3.5 inch drive can have you covered. In addition, the drive includes NoTouch ramp load technology, which can ensure that the recording head and disk media do not touch, amounting to a solid option for an internal hard drive. The RE4 (RE = RAID Edition) was modified to be used intensively for around the clock operation. The implementation of secured motor shafts can allow the RE4 to better defend against vibration with an electronic surveillance system that improves its function in or near high vibration environments. The internal, multi axis shock sensor can help to maximize the integrity of the data. The large storage capacity of the Western Digital 7200 RPM HDD, model number WD2003FYYS, is able to function optimally without sacrificing data processing speed. The demands of modern applications and the ever growing need for additional space to store your crucial data, the RE4 2TB SATA drives deliver solutions. Significant features include StableTrac technology, Intelliseek, RAFF, RAID specific, time limited error recovery (TLER), and dual actuator technology. They can all work in tandem to produce cool operation and to reduce power consumption while decreasing atmospheric buzz.StableTrac can aid in accurate tracking during read and write operations. With RAFF technology, the result can be a significant performance improvement over the previous generation of drives. IntelliSeek can calculate seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise, and vibration in active seek modes without degrading performance. TLER (time-limited error recovery) can stabilize and prevents fallout common to desktop servers. This third generation dynamic read write head's fly height is adjusted in real time for optimum and consistent reliability. Reliability is tested through extended burn in testing with thermal cycling. Its firmware can conserve power in active seek modes without degrading the functionality.Compatible with a MAC or PC, the form factor is 3.5 inches with a 300Mbps transfer rate. The height of the device is 1.03 inches, the width is 4 inches, and the depth is 5.79 inches, and it weighs 1.65 pounds. The WD 2TB RE4 SATA can be ideal for servers, surveillance DVRs and workstations that need to perform demanding and intensive storage tasks. Those who utilize their computer for gaming or complex, difficult applications, can find that these drives were developed to execute such additional software without losing optimal functionality. Without adequate reserves, computers can freeze or crash, or more importantly, lose existing vital data that's already stored on your computer. The 2TB RE4 SATA Hard Disk Drive by Western Digital can provide durability that helps prevent such losses.

  • WD2003FYYS 2TB 3.5" Hard Drive Review

These are top of the Western Digital line, designed for servers running Raid arrays. They carry a 5 year warranty from the date of manufacture. I purchased 2 of these for a NAS box running in Raid 1. They are a bit noisier and run a few degrees hotter (42-46c at idle) than the average desktop drive in a well ventilated enclosure. I would have rated this purchase higher, but 1 of the drives failed, shortly after installation. When you receive the drives go to Western Digital's web site and check your serial numbers. It's easy to do and it will tell you if it has been registered and if it's still in warranty. Assuming the unit is not registered to someone else and it is still in warranty WD will replace the failed drive. Just carefully follow to instructions. The turn around for me was about ...

  • Great drive for servers and RAID when new, Great backup drives when used.

Fast 7200 rpm, high quality, Used in raid arrays and servers. Enterprise-grade. When they are bought used, you can get them in bulk which is ideal for backing up lots of data. However, they do normally run much hotter than the 5400 rpm drives and are noisier but with a good fan in your case, there are no worries.

  • For the Pros, but handy in a pinch

Although this drive is recommended all over, the WD Blacks are not a "one size fits all" solution. First, it's far louder than a WD Blue, which might confuse people that the drive went bad. The whirring is normal, and you'll hear it every time the drive accesses a file, so if you can don't make this your primary drive unless you're ready for the sound. This is notable enough to not recommend this drive to audio engineers, or online entertainers such as podcasters & LPers, nor have this drive inside your bedroom/media PC. Secondly, the drive speeds are a bit exaggerated - it won't make your old Windows partition faster by transfer. Newly partitioned, the speeds are around 131 mb/s, but the max my MBR Windows 7 partition got after defragging was 10 mb/s. Firefox will still hang despite the ...

  • It's noisy but it seems to be working for now.

Not sure about reliable. There should be a maybe or don't know choice there. This drive seems to have a minor problem. It seems to enter a self test mode where it thrashes very loud and hard every 10 seconds or so and then stops that behavior for a little while. The S.M.A.R.T. report shows nothing out of sorts but it is still running some sort of test offline. Very annoying at night when trying to sleep. my room mate complains and it worries me. I may just go back to my old drive. The only work around I have is to set it to some task like smartctl -t long to keep it busy. I noticed that long test has taken as long as 5 days to complete but it's only suppsed to take 29 hours to finish that test. So I think something is wrong but SMART can't quite see it. As long as it has a job to do it ...

  • One of the gold standards in disk drives

I consider the WD RE3 and RE4 drives to be one of the gold standards for disk drives. These were designed to go into servers, so their reliability and lifetime is better than consumer-grade drives. They are also not shingled recording, which I/M/O greatly improves both speed and data reliability. The only drawback is that WD doesn't make them any more and they're only available used. Used drives are always something of a crapshoot, so if you buy them used the first thing you must do is run the WD full diagnostic, then do a full erase, then a full surface test, and then format with bad block detection enabled. It takes two days but at the end you can expect the drive to last a long time without problems.
