PLOT: middle class British in 1960 have Canadian best friends across the street who suddenly become SUSPECTS EXCELLENT LITTLE THRILLER~ BARBARA JACKSON **Ellen Burstyn** shines as the sweet middle class Brit wife in 1960 who stays home and takes care of her family. Across the street is a lovely Canadian Couple who are refered as Auntie and Uncle to the 16 year old daughter of the Jackson.. sweet Julie. the door bells rings and a detective wants to use the upstairs bedroom of the Jackson to WATCH a mysterious man who is is showing up on their street. Soon the Jacksons are unwilling hosts to several policewomen who OBSERVE continually the Canadian Neighbors. Terri GARR is outstanding as the pushy, affectionate Canadian Neighbor who is best friends to BARBARA (BERSTYN)~~ as the police and ... The myserious *VISITOR* everyone is watching is the mastermind/head spy dropping off military secrets. IN turn the spies across the street mail books with info and have a wireless transmitter to pass the secrets back to Moscow. BERSTYN is a woman on the edge of breakdown as the stress of loosing her best friend and hiding the secrets she knows nearly sends her over the edge. this is well done and the suspense lies in the Jacksons who believe the police and secret service are wrong about their friends across the way. BUT soon the JACKSONS spot a careful web of lies their best friends have kept~ the endless scrutiny and focus of the canadians wears on everyone including the police. I GIVE THIS 4 STAR. The End is a tiny bit of a let down but GARR to end shows us what a very good actress she is and this part was made for her. WELL DONE LITTLE BRITISH SPY THRILLER~

"Pack of Lies" remains one of the best character-study-driven films of suspense in my mind.Though made-for-television, don't let this scorcher of a film pass you by. I always recommend avoiding reading DVD covers because they usually tell you way too much of the plot."Pack of Lies" is no different. If you don't read the cover, this film will take you through scenes of almost unbearable suspense, though no huge action-packed incidents occur. The suspense exists because you care about these people. And, I'm not exaggerating, the film works because of its two main actresses - - Ellen Burstyn and Teri Garr. Burstyn is nothing short of phenomenal and I contend that this film showcases Garr's best performance ever on film. Her pivotal character infuses energy into the whole film and creates most ... Nothing was going to hold me back in purchasing it.Once I bought it, I've since watched it again and it holds up EXTREMELY well.If you're looking for an escapist, action- thriller avoid this film. But if you're looking for an intelligent suspense drama, with , like I said, excellent performances by Burstyn and Garr, then get your PayPal, credit card, moneyorder, or check and BUY THIS FILM!

Sitting on the edge of your seat...
You'll be sitting on the edge of your seat during this film. I saw it when it first showed on television years ago and have never forgotten it. Of all (and I mean ALL) the movies I've ever seen, this is the most memorable. I've never forgotten about it, and have asked my friends if they've seen it. Most people haven't, but I recommend that you watch it. Outstanding film! I am so happy that it's out on DVD now! Watch it! It's incredibly suspenseful, the acting is outstanding, the plot intriguing. A must-see film!You'll be sitting on the edge of your seat during this film. Pack of Lies
I loved this movie it is a tear jerker. You can have a best friend and you never would guess what is going on...I had this taped from TV and lent it out yrs ago and forgot the name of it and I had wanted it I am thrilled its coming out.
