Essentially, the film is an affirmation that good things can happen if one lets them--and that sometimes what seems like a terrible mistake or a crazy idea is a really a blessing. Lane is completely engaging as Frances, second-guessing her speedy purchase, looking for love, and rediscovering herself. Based on the book by Frances Mayes, the film was shot on location in Rome, Florence, Positano, and Cortona in Italy. The breathtaking scenery is sure to have viewers saving their pennies for next year's vacation--or their Tuscan dream house.

It was agreat story.beautiful country side..like A Year in Province...But all the lesbiansm kissing,Nudety,Fornication and Lindsay ducan showing her self olmost naked .I lost interest and had to turn it off. Under the Tuscan Sun Is One of the Best
Love it, love it, love it! Great acting over all. The whole romance of Tuscany, the conversations and the scenery! Loved the fountain scene and the wedding and the scene where Frances is in the white dress on the edge of the dock with the wind and the spray. The only part that could have been left out and which added nothing to the movie, for me, was the whole gay-lesbian thing. What was the point? It's part of and common in todays society? No, it's not common in everyones life. I just FFWD past the parts I don't like, of which luckily there are few.Love it, love it, love it! Great acting over all. Good Title Evocative of a Very Picturesque Italy
I saw this movie recently as a netflix rental and I so enjoyed it that I wanted to share it. My mom is alone these days and always liked a variety of movies. After seeing it, I knew she'd love it. I purchased it and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She called to describe the scenery, the tender love scenes. She actually sent me money to cover the cost (it was supposed to have been a gift). And I laugh because she said (at 79 yrs old.) "It was nice and sexy". So - take my mom's word for it... if you haven't seen it: see it. Incredible for your personal collection as it a often watch movie for me.
this is the kind of movie that shows a lifestyle you day dream about. and she makes it happen in the movie. out of desperation of her destroyed marriage. it a movie you won't mind seeing over and over again to see growth into a stronger person and see how lonliness for her was a battle. how she over came and fought for other lovers and made a family for herself and befriend a poor polish worker who she become an older sister to. wonderful it make you feel good about the world around us.this is the kind of movie that shows a lifestyle you day dream about. and she makes it happen in the movie. out of desperation of her destroyed marriage. it a movie you won't mind seeing over and over again to see growth into a stronger person and see how lonliness for her was a battle. how she over came and fought for other lovers and made a family for herself and befriend a poor polish worker who she become an older sister to. wonderful it make you feel good about the world around us.
