    A Great Story by a Great Writer

    Rita Mae Brown is as good a writer as is practicing the craft today, and this engaging, entertaining and well-written book is proof. This is the first in a series of murder mysteries solved by a postmistress in a small Virginia town ... with a little help from a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and a cat. They are written by Ms. Brown wit hthe assistance of her cat, Sneaky Pie. Ms. Brown is able to handle "talking" animals as adroitly as anyone has. It is believable and non-intrusive. But, Ms. Brown is best at making her stories flow. They pull the reader along, drawing them into the lives of her characters and the search for the killer. Almost best of all, Ms. Brown loves and respects the language. A joy to read.

    Wish You Were Here

    I thought I would really enjoy books by this author (and human helper) because I enjoy mysteries and am a complete ailurophile. (cat lover :) I do enjoy the writing style, but do NOT enjoy the profanity. The action moves along at a nice pace, the dialog between the animals is charming. It would be great EXCEPT for that totally unnecessary profanity. What a shame that this talented author feels compelled to insert offensive dialog into an otherwise wonderful and gripping storyline.

    Wish You Were Here

    This is the first of the series starring a cat, dog and their mother. Brown's humor is wicked. The animals talk and are full partners in the investigation. Good plot twists and commentary on the times. View into a small town life without having to move there.
