Not exactly the same, but a fitting substitute.
The only thing I didn't like about this DVD set was that about 1% of the original music made it to the collection, some of those songs really supported the sketches. Other than that, it's perfect! One of my favorite shows ever, on DVD, digitally remastered with a ton of extra footage! They did as best as they could to reproduce the feeling of the original music scores and it's definitely forgivable, as licensing these days costs millions. The sketches haven't lost their touch, just as funny as ever! MTV Sports...Louie...Barry & Levon....Doug....Hot Pursuits....I could go on and on but it's ALL HERE. Classic MTV when MTV was the channel to watch.
Just some classic MTV from MTV's true "golden era", the 90s. I guess the only drawback is most of the original music isn't included, but that can't be helped. Even though some of the sketches may not be the best, the majority are hilarious. It was our first exposure to the great comedians that went on to create other great series, including Reno 911. It's a nicely packaged set. The price is right these days, so I highly recommend owning this historical document, especially if you were there. Good value for old fans of The State who don't want to be at the mercy of streaming services
In a world of streaming rights coming and going uncontrollably, it's nice to own some stuff. The State is both funny and cringeworthy, as any product of its time (closing in on 30 years old?) tends to be. The nostalgia is strong, but the humor has bright moments for first time viewers too, and seeing so many still working actors in their youth is pretty fun.

FINALLY!!!! I've waited years for this to finally be released on DVD. Watching it brings me back to wearing combat boots, knee-holed jeans & flannel. Ahh, the early 90s. The only petty thing that bothers me is they re-dubbed all the music that used to play in the background. I guess it had something to do with licensing or something. Plus some images are blurred out. But hey, as long as I get to see Louie (I'm gonna dip my b*lls in it!), The Inbred Brothers & Lavon & Barry, I'm happy. Watch for the hidden Easter egg too. I'm done. I'm outta heeeeeeere.FINALLY!!!! Funny Stuff
I had forgotten how funny the State is. Thomas Lennon, Michael Ian Black, etc... great cast! DVDs were in great condition & I'm very happy with the purchase.
