Rock Band for the PS3
I started with Rock Band 2 on the Wii. It worked quite well, but did not have much support (of the 600 songs available, less than 25% were available to buy for the Wii). Also, the 'cool' controllers (Rock Axe, Drum Rocker, etc) were not yet available for the Wii. I picked up an older PS3 and ordered this game to see how it compares to the Wii version. On the plus side, many more songs are available to purchase. It works pretty much like the Wii version. I also got Guitar Hero World Tour; in my opinion Rock Band 2 is more playable than GH. First of all, the background graphics for Rock Band seem 'better' than those in Guitar Hero. More lifelike in appearance and movement, and more different actions. I find the 'bars' in RB to be easier to index than the 'circles' in GH, and the ... I started with Rock Band 2 on the Wii. GH has better play for the bass and drums (6 notes rather than 5 in RB). That is why I prefer Rock Band 2 over Guitar Hero World Tour, but of course Rock Band is the one I started on and am most used to. So how does the PS3 version of Rock Band 2 stack up? Pretty much the same, with a couple of annoyances. As mentioned, the song and controller support is better for the PS3 version. There are 2 annoyances though. In many of the songs, the audiance sings along with the band. Perhaps this is 'more realistic', but it does make the song sound 'muddy'. And the PS3 network which you must sign up for to use many of the features of the game requires much more information to set up, and work to access. In the latter case, it appears that you can set it up to log on 'automatically', at the cost of saving your password in the console.

Great title but maybe not the best for everyone
When I opened Rock Band 2 I had high expectations that it would be the band game of all band games. As I dove into the game I found the trophies to be an awesome addition to the game and the world tour was great. The song selection not so great. Yes it has some good ones but not all are that good. I have about 6 hours in and its been a fun 6 hours but my complaints are these. It has a no fail mode but it doesnt save where as Guitar Hero has a beginner level where you just have to get the beat correct. This is great if you have a small child who wants to play too. Guitar Hero has a tug of war competition against legendary figures but to this point I havent had that opportunity in Rock Band Dont get me wrong I will continue to play both but if you are looking for a great song ... great game the only thing is is that the battery is very noisy by the plastic is made around the drums so Put your hands in the air for Rock Band 2, the incredible sequel to the game that put the dream of rock stardom within your grasp. Packed with even more music, a more expansive World Tour mode and much more, Rock Band 2 delivers a thrilling musical experience that will make you reluctant to ever leave the stage. Great Sequel, With Some Quirks
Overall, Rock Band 2 is a fantastic game that I'd immediately recommend to anyone that enjoyed the first game, or anyone who's interested in picking this type of game up for the first time. It's got a great base song set, (about 80 tracks in all, with a code for 20 more free) but sometimes suffers from songs that seem as though they were just sort of "thrown in" as filler. Gameplay is about what you'd expect from RB, with flashy menus that can be a bit tedious to navigate at times but that do not detract overall from the experience. My only major complaint is that the in-song screen's graphics seem a bit stretched, with numbers and text sometimes appearing a bit out of proportion.Overall, Rock Band 2 is a fantastic game that I'd immediately recommend to anyone that enjoyed the first game, or anyone who's interested in picking this type of game up for the first time. Rock Band 2 Rocks!
Awesome game. It could have been just an update of RB1 because, although you get more music, it really expands on the functionality of RB1. I really like the fact that each band member can choose a tune instead of just the band leader choosing tunes. The band challenges are a neat feature as well. There is enough on the local game side of things to keep you interested for while but to really get the full advantage of the game go online. As an adult player of RB2 I do find it a bit annoying that in most of the online quickplay bands the kids only want to play the few tunes that are on the Impossible list (the extreme tunes) and not enjoy some of the more melodic tunes. I may start looking to Facebook to either create or join an adult RB group to find more adults to play with online. I ... Awesome game.
