will watch again especially the technicolor ones
Good movies from when I was born 1943 to 1945. 3 of 5 in brilliant colors. Busby Berkeley did the dance numbers in The Gang's all here. One of his most famous with the huge bananas. They had to be lightweight or the dancers could not have held them. Probably celluloid. Carmen was the highest paid female in Hollywood during WW2. Will Google those bananas. I didn't watch the special features. A great history lesson in cars, fashion, decor. I didn't know about these musicals because of my young age. Carmen Miranda Collection
I rated the DVD Collection as good and it is above average. I have been waiting for the release of "Something For the Boys." It is Carmen Miranda at her comical best along with Vivian Blaine and Perry Como. It is not a great Fox musical but it is fun. Greenwich Village is also one that I have enjoyed again with Vivian Blaine and Don Ameche. It also stated that it included the remastered "Gang's All Here." It is the same disk that is inclued in the Alice Faye Collection. There is nothing remastered about it. It still has the off colored logo and it is framed too close on the Titti Frutti Number with the strawberries koleidoscope. It is really a shame the next two features are in black and white. This is the best of Carmen Miranda. Feast for eyes and ears. In addition to CM, great big band music: some Benny Goodman, Harry James, Alice Faye and Perry Como. Lots of clean comedy. Lots of fun. Some movies in color, others in B&W. Don't expect good story lines. They are very simple, just excuses for comedy, song and dance that make the viewer happy. Loved the product. I didn't do any comparative shopping; just wanted Carmen Miranda. The dvd recordings of the movies are very high quality and don't skip.This is the best of Carmen Miranda. Feast for eyes and ears.
