This is one of the best biographies I’ve read. Adoniram Judson was a remarkable man who led a remarkable life. He was a brave, selfless, brilliant missionary. He and his wife were the first missionaries to serve in Burma. He translated much of the Bible into their language without the help of an interpreter. They faced barbaric people, poverty, prison and all manner of adversity. It took years to see any positive results after so much loss to him personally. The gospel of Jesus Christ was his passion and eventually it bore much fruit.This is one of the best biographies I’ve read. Adoniram Judson was a remarkable man who led a remarkable life. He was a brave, selfless, brilliant missionary. He and his wife were the first missionaries to serve in Burma. He translated much of the Bible into their language without the help of an interpreter. What if?
What if we left all we know, that is all the things around us that make us comfortable in our daily lives, even down to the language we know and speak. What if we left it all behind to travel to a land, language, and culture unknown to us? While there would learn a lesson of humility unmatched by so few. Unknown to us that we would end up burying 2 wives and several children, be wrongly imprisoned almost to the point of death, loss of health and under constant threat of harassment and persecution, and live that way to the end of our lives. What if that was what awaited us? What if that’s why we were packing our things and moving this afternoon? What if we could hear what Adoniram Judson would say about the life he lived and sacrificed as the 1st American missionary to Burma? What ... For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:8-11 (ESV) Grab and hold your heart tight as you find out what it really means to go "To the Golden Shore".

great Book
I could not put this down. This book is about a missionary in India and the challenges he lived with in order to bring the gospel to the Burmese people. This will build up your faith.

The book is a great book, but it does not come with a hard cover, only a very thin paper cover. The book tells of the 1st American missionary and of all the persecutions encountered while working in Burma. Lost all of his children and two of his three wives. Tells of how his second wife died at sea and was buried on St. Helena Island half way between Brasil and Africa, the same place Napoleon Bonaparte was buried.The book is a great book, but it does not come with a hard cover, only a very thin paper cover. The book tells of the 1st American missionary and of all the persecutions encountered while working in Burma. Lost all of his children and two of his three wives.
