  • The Shaggy Dog - VHS

The movie was vey funny and kept the children entertained, especially the older one. The kids could relate to it because the Dad turns into the dog, but still has to go on with life. It felt it helped teach a good lesson - No matter what happens or how different you are - you CAN deal with it. I bought the movie about 3 weeks ago and saved it for a special occasion. If your looking for an inexpensive and fun way to treat/reward children when they do great things,(potty traing, doing chores, good behavior, etc.), this would be a great reward. I bought this particular movie because it was a Tim Allen movie and kid friendly.

  • The Shaggy Dog DVD is for the very young. Imagination is necessary. lol

The kids like it. I find it a bit confusing. They didn't. I think you have to devote all your attention to it while in watching mode. I can't always do that, I think it is good fun for the family when they are young. Enjoyable and laughter. It is really interesting concepts that are not possible. :D Good fun.

  • Good Children's Movie

While I personally prefer the original version, my little brothers and sisters love this movie. This remake obviously has the same plot as the original and kids love the idea of a talking dog, or in this case Tim Allen in a dog's body. Another reason I like this movie is that it doesn't bore the adults as much like animated movies (Shark Tales, Finding Nemo, Ants, ect.). This is definitely a great family movie that features jokes that anyone while laugh at. I do give this one a recommendation especially if you're trying to find something you can watch with the kids. Buy or rent it for your kids, they'll like it.

  • With Low Expectations, One Cannot Be Disappointed

I nrecent years, Disney has attempted to "re-imagine" some of their old films. While I was impressed by "Freaky Friday" (thanks mostly to the performances of Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis), Disney's attempt to makeover "The Shaggy Dog" was a half-hearted effort that felt more like their were attempting to find a use for Tim Allen. The plot of the film remains mildly related to the classic 1959 film. Tim Allen stars as Dave Douglas, a succesful lawyer who is trying to impress his boss and be the next district attorney. While he is a success in the courtroom, Dave's passion for his job causes him to neglect his family. His daughter is a champion of animal rights, which puts her into conflict with her father who is defending an animal testing lab. His wife (played Kristian Davis) is ...

  • not original, but not bad

For those that are big fans of the original Shaggy Dog movie, and are hoping to see this remake parallel the original, you will probably be disappointed. However, Tim Allen has a way of making a mediocre movie fun. This movie is most enjoyed by elementary school aged children, who will laugh throughout the movie. Some adults find it drags on a bit, and the youngest kids will just keep asking to put the Incredibles back in. Overall, it is good, clean, family fun, and worth having on the shelf. Then again, I buy most movies that don't absolutely stink.
