Altec Lansing VS4121 speaker system
The system i bought promised exellent sound with unique features which it did posess and met my expectations and functioned well until a power surge knocked it out, my error, I plugged directly into wall outlet when I first unpacked it just to see if all worked alright, was so pleased with the sound improvement I forgot to plug it into my surge protector so I was totally bummed out and will have to "put it in the shop". Classy, small footprint audio system excellent for any computer system.
The Altec-Lansing-VS4121 2.1 Computer Speaker system has been a real boon for all my computer work for the last five years. This purchase only replaced the Left/Right speakers due to an electrical connection problem but all is working great again. The subwoofer did not need replacing, but all three speakers are part of the same proprietary system and cannot be used separately. There are newer 2.1 systems from Altec-Lansing and other powered speaker manufacturers, but this model has rich, deep, wide frequency response audio great for my use not only listening to my files, but comes in very handy in editing/modifying sound files on audio editor apps. Very adjustable treble, bass controls with surprisingly good mid-range response from small footprint compact speakers. Of course, the ... Altec has been one of the best brands for decades in all categories, from professional to home. I have four of this babies. one in my office...it sure rocks my office. I also have three in my music room. One is enough, but when I want to rattle the walls I turn on the second set, but when I want to feel the music going through my body, I turn on the third set....Boy there is nothing like loud music that you can really feel. The quality is great. Crisp highs and mids and the bass sub sure fills the room. What is great about this set of speakers is the fact that you have a control for highs & mids and a separate control for the bass, along with a volume control. Still nice sounding
I bought a new set of these speakers about 7 years ago from a local CompUSA for around $80.00. I couldn't believe how good they sounded. I was suffering a little mid-life crisis recently so I went out and bought a set of Klipsch Pro-Media 2.1's (at least I didn't go out and buy a Lambo). They (Klipsch) are better than the Altecs but not by much. These (Altecs) are an excellent middle-of-the-road set of 2.1 speakers. My son in law really liked the sound of the Altecs and wanted my old set. He was kind of bummed when I told him that I was taking them to the office, so I surprised him with this set I just purchased.I bought a new set of these speakers about 7 years ago from a local CompUSA for around $80.00. A Good Deal for the Price
For many years, I owned a set similar to this one. When it finally gave out, I was glad to find this one--and at a great price. At first there appeared to be problem with static, especially when it came to listening to TV shows; however, after researching the problem, it appears that static is a recurring problem on subwoofers, new or old. Another problem surfaced when I tried to participate in Zoom broadcasts, and the sound would simply go out (and I was NOT on mute!). Anyway, I've decided to keep the set because when it comes to the quality of music, even my new BOSE speakers are no match!For many years, I owned a set similar to this one.
