Good item
Works well, does not move a lot of fluid per "pump", but does a good job. Only thing to be careful of on this item is the pick-up tube -- it seems to be a little more harder plastic than the "out" tube, and fits up into the pump unit by may 1/4" to 3/8", so can pop off if any torque is put on tube. I used pump to change transmission fluid on my SUV - have to pump fluid into transmission pan - once pickup tube came off pump, hand to fish it out of the ATF bottle. Not practical
Why do you want a pump for standard quart motor oil bottles? You don't need it for oil in the crankcase, you just pour in the oil at the cap on top of the engine. What you need it for is when you're under the vehicle for gear oil. And the tube is too short to reach the bottom of the 1 qt gear oil bottles. They could easily have made the tube a little longer or supplied an extra, longer tube. The other problem is how long it takes to pump. It took around 200 strokes per qt. of gear oil (and that was with emptying only about 4/5 of the bottle.) So, to refill the 2 qt. manual transmission on my Miata, I had to pump about 400 times. Then I had to find a 1 qt motor oil bottle, empty it into another container, and pour in what remained in the 2 gear oil bottles, so I could pump that into the ... Good pump
This fits the small top containers. Not that big a deal, but worth knowing. It's first use was for large mouth ATF container, I just held the assembly on the ridge of the top of the ATF oil container. The output hose is secured well, and the suction line doesn't fall off- both of which are annoying and messy. Cleanup is pretty easy too. One could always transfer whatever fluid is being pumped into a suitable container that fits the cap (that's likely what I'll do next time). I've pumped about five quarts through it so far, and the mechanism is still working smoothly. Great value !This fits the small top containers. Not that big a deal, but worth knowing. Nice Pump
Used this pump to add Lucas Transmission Additive (24 oz. size). Pump worked well on my F350 in removing 24 oz. of the existing fluid, I had to buy 5 feet of 7/16" clear plastic hose to reach the fluid, I then was able to screw the pump right on the Lucas bottle and added the additive. Took just about 8 minutes to add the Lucas because of the heavier viscosity but worked well. Very happy with the pump, made the job easy.Used this pump to add Lucas Transmission Additive (24 oz. size). Works great for doing transmission and diff oil change, easy, no mess, no need for a long hose and/or funnel.
