Product Information

Batman Returns is a side-scrolling action game based on the Tim Burton movie of the same name. As Batman you'll use an assortment of fighting moves and an armory of gadgets, such as a Batarang, grappling hook, and other projectile weapons. You must follow the storyline of the movie and save Gotham City by stopping Penguin, Catwoman, and the Red Triangle Circus Gang. The seven stages of battles will take you to the city rooftops, the circus train, Gotham Plaza, the streets of Gotham, and the Penguin's lair, where you must fight the Penguin and his tiny, missile-launching penguins. Unlike the other six levels, in which you control Batman as he runs, jumps, and fights, stage five puts you in the driver's seat of the Batmobile.

The SNES version of the game was released in 1993. It is fundamentally a left-to-right scrolling fighter beat-em-up, a genre that featured heavily on the console at the time. The gameplay and graphics are very similar to the Final Fight games. The game takes the player through seven scenes featured in the film. Various members of the Red Triangle Circus Gang attack Batman throughout the game. Batman has a number of weapons and moves at his disposal, including the batarang. Each level ends with a boss character, which requires a little more effort and strategy to defeat. A number of levels are two-dimensional platform levels as opposed to the majority of the pseudo-3D levels where freer movement is permitted. The fifth level consists of driving the Batmobile in a chase scene where Batman ... The SNES version of the game was released in 1993. Batman Returns was awarded Best Licensed Game of 1992 by Electronic Gaming Monthly.[1]

Awesome Vintage Batman game, Great Deal for your money!
Playing SNES games always brings back good memories. I remember playing this game over and over again. It is a great Batman classic game. Based on the movie, you are Batman fighting your way through Gotham City as you must stop the Penguin and Catwoman and all their minions from succeeding in their plans to destroy and ruin Gotham. Game is in vintage arcade style, with a solid hit bar for you and your opponents (kind of like Double Dragon). The more you hit your opponent the more the life bar goes down and vice verse for Batman. You have various weapons at your disposal. You have mainly your fist, but you also have the Batrang, Batgrapple, Batmobile, and other Bat-weapons. You take out enemies in different fighting styles. You can punch & kick your enemies, you can slam them to the ... Playing SNES games always brings back good memories. I remember playing this game over and over again. As the game progresses, you need to change your fighting style as the enemies do get tougher and harder to hit, but that just makes it more fun to play. Only major drawback to it is that you are given 3 or 4 lives to start with only 5 continues (I believe) to play and finish the game, no password. There is also the problem of off-screen enemies that can hit you but you can not hit them. Even still today's games have high resolution and graphics. Batman Returns has some nice resolution features & graphics on the characters for a game of its age and playing style. Batman Returns is to me a great vintage SNES game and maybe one of the better Batman games out there. Definitely a game at least to play if not own if you are a SNES or Batman fanatic.
