The MTV Music Generator is a simulator for making custom music tracks for your PlayStation. Developed by Jester Interactive and published by The Codemasters Software Company, this mouse-compatible music generator allows you to create and save music tracks with special sound effects like chorus, tempo and reverb for infinite possibilities.<br><br>Along with the option to add various video clips using 3D graphics, the MTV Music Generator includes 1,500 riffs and 3,000 instrument sounds that will fit anyone's taste. From rock and techno to pop and jazz, or drum and bass to house and rap, creating your very own song mixes for your friends is only the beginning.<br><br>With the added bonus of music entitlements you'll receive a world-wide royalty-free license to make, use, publish and distribute any works created using the Generator, except for in any commercial music or video creation product. This also includes any other audio and video components provided that all works of such are clearly labeled on the media or packaging with the MTV Music Generator logo, as well as a mailing of intended use to Codemasters.<br><br>If it seems too daunting at first, the disc comes with several templates and diverse demo songs written by various musicians, allowing you to edit, remix and examine the tracks. Each song contains a video accompanying it that also allows for editing. Even riffs can be edited with multiple channels to suit your style, from storing them as palettes to muting, splitting or resizing and cloning your riffs. As well, the drum beats, sound effects, strings, percussion and vocals can have their volume increased or decreased, or their tempos and pitches changed to your liking.<br><br>Every sampled musical instrument is stored in the Riffs Library, which can be accessed with the touch of a button. The Chase Library gives you a large number of shapes and backgrounds to add to your video clips from the Video Library. The Timeline adds additional steps to your current video chase with transitions per individual element. If it's easier, you might want to let the CPU auto-generate one for you. Jam sessions can be saved to a memory card with up to 15 blocks. And the Jukebox mode sets a list of songs and videos to play which is useful for demonstrations or parties.<br><br>The Music Jam mode is designed for one to four players and allows you to make music simply by jamming on a Simon Says-like interface. For more than two players this will require the Multi Tap device. The screen is split into four sections, one in each corner. Each section represents one of the controllers where each player will start off by loading their own templates. From there they can each use the controller buttons to simulate different music effects and sounds. Players can also change the tempo, rotate the templates, save sessions or even enter a Melody mode for those advanced users.<br><br>From an undo feature to shortcuts and transposing keys, creating customized tunes for your PlayStation is a complete process with MTV Music Generator.

    Great Game for the budding beatmaker/music lover

    I've had this game on PC for the past 3 years and since it came out in 2000 for the Playstation. I absolutely recommend this program if you want to get your feet wet making studio style music. The Playstation version is easier to use but the PC version allows you to record your work. I recommend version 1 of the series if you want to sample from other outlets(cd,records,tapes).     A unique intro to music production

    The most unique of the Music generator series("Music" in the UK and elsewhere). Less stock samples, but more features, such as pitchshifting, and AM modulation as an effect-kind of complicated, but adds a unique flavor. Some knowledge of production techniques will help, but this is a great starting point, with features such as tuning, volume envelopes, and other DAW standards in a simplified form. Recommended for beginners or producers who want a unique additionto their studio. Samples easily from cd-r(unlike later versions), if you'd like to use your own loops or dig into your record collection.

    Music is the answer

    I lost my copy of this title two years ago, and needed another to make songs. The new Music 2 (MTV Music Generator) works just as well as my first copy. Sounds are fine, programming is easy, and the graphics are very good. I thank the seller for sending me a good copy.

    Great for Aspiring Musicians

    When it first had been released for the Playstation gaming console I purchased it right away, and it was a lot of fun. All of my games got stolen when I was a teenager, so I sought to recover some of the ones I liked best. This game is great, and makes amazing music, though it is limited by the amount of memory you can have in a memory card without being able to transfer or publish your creations in any way. It is creation of music for its own sake. Unlike the computer gaming consoles of today, the playstation was limited, although in its time it was the best thing ever.

    Lots of FUN!

    This game is loads of fun. Long before games like Guitar or DJ Hero & such, there was MTV Music Generator. Don't let the name fool you, those of you who think MTV is way past it's prime. And those of you who don't like techno shouldn't shy away either. This game allows you to 'sample', too. I never tired of this game! I looked long & hard for another copy. I'm very pleased to have it again. Some of the songs I created even impressed me & I'm talentless! You can't go wrong...
