If you like Chris Elliott's zany sense of humor, you will love this movie. Chris made many appearances on David Letterman in the 80's with pop-in comedy skits. Recently he has played a role in "Everybody Loves Raymond". He was Robert's (Brad Garrett), wife Amy's brother. In this movie Cabin Boy, David Letterman even makes a special cameo appearance in one of the early scenes. Conan O'brien's old sidekick Andy Richter is in the movie, as is Bill Murray's brother Brian Doyle-Murray. The only people I know that really do not like this movie, are folks that just plain do not like Chris Elliott himself.If you like Chris Elliott's zany sense of humor, you will love this movie. best gift idea ever!!
i purchased this hilarious sleeper movie as an ingeninous christmas present for my sister and her fiance because it was so cheap online and i didnt want to waste a whole bunch of money.It was and still is a cinamatic favorite of ours. My Sister and I watched Cabin Boy growing up and it is still a funny family favorite and relevant to this day. This movie is great for anyone who likes a good laugh and also those who hate laughing, with many cameos from recognizable stars (chris elliot, SNL, david letterman,etc). Cabin Boy is a brilliant/witty coming of age that can be describe as having Illiad elements as well as being very Catcher in the Ryesque if j. D Salinger was on an acid trip and his characters were all demented Cabin Boy tells the tale of a nonsensical,comedic, fantastastical odessey, where a pampered pink fingered, sharp tongued fancy lad ( chris elliot) freshly graduateded from his expensive boarding school sets out alone on a journey to meet his billionaire father in hawaii to join the family business and preserve his fathers legecy. through lack of of street smarts, unawareness of the outside world beyond his posh upbringing mistakenly boards an old stanky fishing boat filled with crotchety salty crewmates thinking its a luxury cruiseline. when discovered onboard he is kidnapped and forced to accompany the rustic crew on there openended fishing exposition detouring his reunion until he outsmarts them and unknowingly missteers their course into dangerous waters and has bizzare misadventures with runins with a many armed blue lover,a marathon swimmer, a floating cupcake, a snowman, gigantic business man, and manshark.in the end he earns new friends, wins the affections of his love interest, grows up,drops his materialism and develops a love for the sea. this is my type of movie and will quickly become a guilty pleasure cult classic life experiece that is much needed to become a functioning member of society. the only complaint i have is that it doesnt last 4 hours and that there has been no sequels made,or awards won. also they should have come out with action figures and a breakfast cereal. this movie makes me want to be a better man and is a beacon of hope to anyone lost in this crazy mixed up world. not only do i give this movie 5 stars but also would purchase 24,000 more copy rent a plane and shower them into a crowd to spread the love and abundense while cring tears of joy for intiating world peace . in conclusion i think all parents should purchase this movie and watch it with their children to answer the tough questions about life. all the best & bless your heart!xoxoxoxoxox Nathanial Mayweather: I'm sorry, sir. Company great. Movie a dud
Purchased this movie because I watched it on VHS so often when I was younger I was able to say dialogue along with the characters. The quality of the disc was fabulous however I can’t for the life of me understand what I found so thrilling about the movie in my younger years. Would recommend purchasing from this company, just pick a better movie then I did.

Either you get Chris or you don't. If you do this is required viewing. If you are not a chris fan, it's still worth a try. You will either think it is one of the funniest movies ever, or you will hate it. There is no in between. Stars a young andy richter and gus (from Chris's show "Get a Life") has a core part. Chris evolves in the story from fancy lad who gets his pipes cleaned and becomes a fancy man. A classic sea going tale. Dave Letterman makes a cameo. Cabin boy the movie
I bought Cabin Boy the movie a few weeks ago. I was surprised to see that it was on DVD. The copy I received was in excellent condition and the package had never been opened. I had seen the movie years ago and wanted to see it again. My son works at a popular video store and they didn't carry it. I have absolutely no complaints about this product. Yes, the movie itself is a bit corny but that's why I wanted it. Chris Elliot is about as crazy has they come and he always makes me laugh.I bought Cabin Boy the movie a few weeks ago.
