Product Information

A unique and cutting-edge comedy, TITUS took the sitcom formula and twisted many of its fundamental elements. Comic Christopher Titus based the situations and characters on his real-life family and experiences, creating a television program that had perhaps the most dysfunctional clan ever to hit the small screen. Chris's father Ken is an abusive womanizer, his mother Juanita a murderous schizophrenic, and his brother Dave is an imbecile. The only people keeping Chris sane are his girlfriend Erin and effeminate best friend Tommy. Particularly notable is the way that the program utilized Titus's family as a way of exploring topics normally taboo for network comedies, and was able to diffuse some criticism through its use of physical and sometimes sophomoric comedy. TITUS also took a step beyond most sitcoms with scenes that presented both Chris's inner psychology and the everyday "reality" of his existence. THE COMPLETE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS contains a total of 33 episodes of the boundary breaking television comedy.

Lowbrow humor at it's best
This was a short lived TV show about a small business owner and his family. It stars Christopher Titus in the title role but it really is an ensemble of very funny actors including Stacy Keach. If you ever saw Titus' stand-up act then alot of it will be familiar. It features subject matter that may be too heavy for some people's sense of humor. Among others, topics like mental illness, drug/alcohol abuse, date rape, infidelity and severe illness/injury were all covered. It was all done so well that even if you were brought up in a "normal" family you'll laugh. And laugh. This show featured pretty women, handsome men, a few glimpses of some kool cars and even a celebrity guest or two, but mostly it featured lots and lots of funny. Titus was underappreciated, but HILARIOUS!
Are you looking for real life comedy that doesn't go into the stereotypical jokes over and over again? Then this is DEFINATELY the comedy for you. Based on Christopher Titus's bad childhood, this sitcom goes places no one else wants to go. Drinking problems, marijuana use, physco mothers...what more could you ask for? Titus does a fine job of making you laugh at the dark parts of life, especially when things get crappy. FOX took it off the air because it was too controversial, so obviously it has to be funny. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this sitcom - it's different and HILARIOUS! Titus FUNNIEST SHOW AND BEST COMEDIAN EVER!
When I first watched this show...years back when it was on Fox, I loved the show for who and what it is. I had no clue Titus was a comedian. I just thought the show was so real! This isn't about a happy family with stupid problems that no one in the world can relate to...this is REAL! Thisis what a family is really like! The show is based around Chris Titus who basically narrates his life. He has a nice girlfriend, a very dumb brother Dave, a very flamboyant best friend and partner Tommy (My favorite character!), and his lustful drunk father. I love how he narrates the epsiodes. No one else does that! After the show was off air...years later I saw Chris Titus doing standup. And his standup (Normal Rockwell is bleeding) is exactly like what he said in the TV! Classic Titus!!!
Great series. Too bad it was short lived and hard to find. So glad I found this complete series and love watching it over and over. A timeless comedy from an amazing comedian.

this is not cosby
this show ROCKS, a lot of people never got it, this was real life & way too funny, it was dark & went places cosby would never go, butt if you had a messed up family growing up then you can relate & you will see you are just a wussy compared to what christopher titus went thru, stacy keach is a 90's answer to archie bunker, someday this show will get what it deserves, it had great ratings butt FOX turned into a big wussy since this show was going into taboo subjects, if you like real life sitcoms that are real, you will LOVE this & you will never forget PAPA TITUS, he steals the show & the rest of the gang was great too, just sad it ended, butt not forgotten, the only problem was some did not get it & since they did not start from the beginning, they did not get it, butt now that has been ... this show ROCKS, a lot of people never got it, this was real life & way too funny, it was dark & went places cosby would never go, butt if you had a messed up family growing up then you can relate & you will see you are just a wussy compared to what christopher titus went thru, stacy keach is a 90's answer to archie bunker, someday this show will get what it deserves, it had great ratings butt FOX turned into a big wussy since this show was going into taboo subjects, if you like real life sitcoms that are real, you will LOVE this & you will never forget PAPA TITUS, he steals the show & the rest of the gang was great too, just sad it ended, butt not forgotten, the only problem was some did not get it & since they did not start from the beginning, they did not get it, butt now that has been solved, you can start from episode 1 & go to the end, a timeless treasure!!!!!!!!!
