There are some great AC/DC tracks here and some not
The best part of the pack is that it includes all the band's iconic songs: "Back in Black," "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap," "Hells Bells," "You Shook Me All Night Long," "T.N.T.," "Highway to Hell" and "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)." On the flip side, you're also getting saddled with a number of tracks you might not be all that interested in. Was anyone really clamoring for "The Jack" or "Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be"? The live version of "High Voltage" is so dragged out that it's completely un-fun to play on any instrument. The live versions are pretty clean, although the padding commonly associated with live performances occasionally hurts them as gameplay levels. BEWARE OF FAKE SELLERS ON EBAY SELLING DLC CODES! The code is FREE when you buy this game! DO NOT BUY CODES OFF EBAY SELLERS! This is a pretty good add on to your Rock Band 1 or 2 collection. The game is a stand alone, or downloadable content, and has some of ac/dc's best jams. If you are an ac/dc groupie, this is a must-have for your collection. pros - good gaming! Tricky songs to play, downloadable content, not TOO easy. Cons- No custom characters, all the tracks are live, so playing can be misleadng sometimes, but still a good challenge All in all, its a fun game. Rock Band minus the interface?
The only thing this standalone game is worth buying for is the fact that it has a redeemable code (making the songs available as DLC on your Rock Band 1/2 games). The game itself is terrible, looks like they took many steps back; honestly, it looks like a brainstorm project mid-development for RB2, before they even finished. The calibration is always off (plus there are no options other than manual, whereas in RB1 and RB2 there are different TV type settings to make it easy), there is no character creation (just randomized ones thrown on the screen), and only 12 basic - at best - achievements (the same amount they give arcade titles). I am sure the only reason it even was made was because of the AC/DC comeback trend, where Wal-Mart wanted to make "vintage rock" everything and hope the old ... The only thing this standalone game is worth buying for is the fact that it has a redeemable code (making the songs available as DLC on your Rock Band 1/2 games). The game itself is terrible, looks like they took many steps back; honestly, it looks like a brainstorm project mid-development for RB2, before they even finished. ACDC live- an EPIC addition to your Rock Band library!
When I was considering buying this add-on for nearly $40 (now it's 30 brand new exclusively at Wal Mart/ ACDC's site, and here on eBay) I was skeptical about paying so much for just a few songs - some of which I hadn't heard of - from a single band. I was also skeptical about the quality of the tracks, as many "Live" tracks are garbage. However, when I popped in this standalone and cranked up THUNDERSTRUCK (the first track) it exceeded all of my expectations. ACDC's live performance is epic. The real fan ambiance in the background only serves to pump you up even more. And though many of the bass and drum sections are a little repetitive at times, the live guitar and vocals are incredibly fun and may be more challenging than the non-live recordings. The guitar solos especially are top-notch ... A note to buyers: If you plan to buy this on eBay, you can buy it without the code and have the standalone game, which is absolutely fine (and all that is needed if you only have Rock Band 1). But if you'd rather not switch disks and have these tracks included in your Rock Band 2 library, then make sure to get one WITH a code so you can import the songs into Rock Band 2. All in all, this is a definite buy for any fan or Rock Band or ACDC. Even if some of the parts are repetitive, you can't help but stand up and jam out with your friends like a rock-wannabe nerd. For those about to rock, we salute you!
