Product Information

The most extensive edition of the Street Fighter Alpha series is revamped for this PlayStation Portable game. While the basic 2D fighting of earlier Street Fighter games remained the centerpiece, the original Alpha titles introduced new characters, and incorporated new speed ("turbo") and stance ("-ism") options, and The King of Fighters-styled three-on-three battles to deepen gameplay.<br><br>This PSP edition is based on Street Fighter Alpha 3, the most expansive game in the late-'90s sub-series, but adds additional, "new for 2006" content and options of its own. Along with the more than 30 characters of the original, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX features another four, who join the competition from related brawlers such as Capcom Vs. SNK 2. This PSP game is also enhanced by a number of new multiplayer modes, made possible by the handheld's wireless communication capabilities.

    The Ultimate Version of Street Fighter Alpha 3

    This version of the game is by far, the best version of Street Fighter Alpha 3, especially when it comes to content! With the only drawback being some long load times here and there, this version includes a few extra characters, a butt-load of game modes, and on top of that, its fully portable so you can play it anywhere. This version of the game is also available for the PlayStation Store on PSvita systems, but if you want to take this game and play it on the big screen, there's always the PlayStation TV system aka the PSvita TV in Japan.

    Fun to look at but not to play...

    This game looks great. The colors are brilliant on the psp screen. It delivers with content, sound effects, graphics and a very large cast of characters. However, I can't recommend buying this game. The controls suck! How bad are the controls? HORRIBLE, to the point of psp breaking frustration. Forget about executing your moves effectively or at all, while the computer tears you apart. It kills me when a game looks this great and have the controls ruin it. For example, anti air moves that use the dragon punch motion are problematic. Also, double fireball motion for most of the supers cannot be done effectively. Oh, and forget about using the Control pad (D-pad). You must have noticed the psp does not have diagonals, so moves that require them are awkard at best. You cant even jump forward ...

    Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (PlayStation Portable)

    An improved version of the furious third entry in the Street Fighter Alpha series. A gameplay mode new to the Street Fighter Alpha series, Variable BattleMode, has been implemented to allow real-time tag team brawls. Tag out and the second fighter enters performing a jump attack, a move useful for escaping tight situations. Yun, Maki and Eagle, from Capcom vs. SNK 2, as well as Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution, enter the arena exclusively in this PSP edition, with all new original storylines. Versus battles heat up with the Wi-Fi League Battle Mode that allow a maximum of eight players to duke it out in round-robin mini tournaments.

    Street Fighter fans grab this game NOW!!

    As a true fan of the fighting genre, I could honestly say I loved this game. Yes it's kind of hard to control without the PS2 controller that I'm used to playing with, but as far as the game goes it is flawless. There are more modes than you could count on both hands and maybe a foot or two. And fans of the Alpha series will be waiting to level up their favorite characters in World Tour mode. This mode really gives the game so much replay value. I bought it for by brother in Iraq who's the biggest SF fan around. He recommends it for any soldiers with PSP's and says "it helps kill time on those long plane rides home."
