Product Information

Players have the opportunity to create a living zoological park in their home computer with this first release from developers at Blue Fang Games. Building upon conventions of recreational park management simulations such as Sim Theme Park and Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon has the player building cages and enclosures for animal attractions and placing pathways and landscaping for the people who come to see them. Good design will lead guests comfortably through the zoo, with refreshment stands and bathrooms placed in convenient locations among the attractions.<br><br>Caring for the animal attractions themselves requires foresight and nurturing maintenance. The player can learn about the natural environments and preferences of the different animals in the park and use that information to design habitats that will keep them all safe and happy. Happy animals are more active and interesting to zoo visitors. Animals that are not comfortable in their cages may just stand around doing nothing, providing little entertainment to the guests that have paid to come to visit them.<br><br>Zoo Tycoon features several modes of play including scenarios with specific objectives, such as the renovation of an outdated park or the breeding of rare animals, as well as an open-ended style of play in which players can design the parks of their dreams with little restriction. In all, 40 different animals are available to virtual zookeepers. The game offers 60 different materials for the design of cages and habitats and another 60 materials with which to build the park and guest accommodations, ensuring that each zoo can offer the gamer a new experience.

    Good Game, better with the add ons

    I used to have this game before with all the add ons ( dino zoo, marine world ) but due to changing computers and lossing the cds, I had to start over again, bought this and same as before it is a really great game of building your own zoo, lots of animals, shops and food restaurants, before I was the only one that played it, now with an 8 year old daughter and a 5 y/o sister that follows here EVERYWHERE they are starting playing also, they like it but still they do not understand that animals need people to take care of them so they ofter die, escape or scare people going to their zoo,lol they still like to see that ( people screaming and running away from a tiger ) I still need the add ons, you will be able to have more than 30 species of animals and more options of zoo lands, I dont ...

    One of the Best!!!

    The original Zoo Tycoon is probably one of the best computer games that was ever made! Previous versions have just not been as good as this one. It's too bad that the studio that produced it went under a few years ago. If you can find this game at a low price hurry and scoop it up! It's not being made anymore and prices are only going to go up as this classic game becomes rarer and rarer. My Favorite Cheats: -rename exhibit "Xanadu" = you can buy Unicorns -rename exhibit "Cretaceous Corral" = you can buy Triceratops -hold down the "shift" and "4" buttons to get some extra $

    Such a great game!!

    I grew up with this game, kinda shocked it worked on my computer since I have windows 10. The gameplay is nice and simple, the tutorial explains it really well. Making the perfect zoo can be challenging, which makes it interesting. But it's perfect for playing mindlessly for hours.

    An Enjoyable Gaming Expirience!

    I really like this game, the graphics are great, and the ease-of-use was great as well! The only issues I could complain about the fact that if you have the game set for "best graphic features" the game moves rather slowly. That is the ONLY issue I have! A great game, I would recommend it, but to truly enjoy all the game has to offer, running it as "best graphics" mode, you compromise the speed.
