When you see a truck near you, see if it has a driver.
I haven't read King's story, but, if things are normal, the book would be much greater than the movie, and this movie was very suspenseful, and with King, we never can tell just where he is going with his story. The scene with the poor mailman was a little too long and it looked too artificial, he was the only one in the city, no dogs, cars, people, etc. which made it look like it was made on a very limited budget. They could have used some extras to give the scene more suspense and depth. The scenes with the 'ax-man' was unnecessary as Alfred Hitchcock has proven; let the audience sense what was happening, and it would save on the expensive of using extra paint. Thankfully there wasn't any of the usual gore that most directors think that we need to watch; but, it was still squeamish at ... If you like to sit on the edge of the seat and wonder just what is going on and how far and wide has this event been spread throughout the rest of the country, you will love this. If you have seen 'Duel' with Dennis Weaver, most likely you have asked; why is this truck after me and just what is going on? The same questions, only on a larger scale. This is not a 'Pollyanna' type of story so beware. I don't know if this would be a good movie to watch more than once, as the thrill would have been removed, unless of course, you wait many years to see it again; an option that I don't have. Oh, just in case that you are clueless about what this movie is about: just a bunch of trucks taking over and doing their own thing. Enjoy +JMJ+

It's not Maximum Overdrive
I saw "Trucks" years ago, and even though it's not "Maximum Overdrive". it is still a pretty good movie. The characters are entertaining, and the plot is identical to M.O. I have seen a lot worse movies...all in all, it keeps you hooked, and if you are a fan of Big trucks as I am, it is a plus. If you buy this, I don't think you will be disappointed.

The quality of the DVD is on par with early DVDs made within the first 5 years of the format (1997). Don't buy this if your expecting high definition quality....buy it because you collect movies. Trucks is more faithful to the original story and Maximum Overdrive has AC/DC for the soundtrack. DVDs are dirt cheap these days....buy both and break out the beer and popcorn. Trucks
I actually was looking for the movie 'The Car' when I randomly found this movie and I decided to purchase it for a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, who, is a truck driver and loves watching movies. I am almost certain he has never seen this one, so it should be fun to give it to him. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it has Steven King involved and his movies are always very interesting. I cannot credit or rate the movie as of yet for I have not seen it ... just the cover! A good movie
A better version of the story from Stephen King, but having a more made for TV approach I believe this due to budget restraints. Unlike the Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive which felt too comedic this one though not as scary as I wanted it to be was more entertaining. I guess if you compare the two they both have strengths an weaknesses of content.
