A great step up from a 'basic' camera
Our existing compact camera was reaching the end of its life, and we were fed up with its poor quality, especially in low-lighting conditions. I bought the FinePix wanting a substantially better model that would cope with a variety of conditions. We were very pleased with our purchase. The 18x optical zoom made telescopic shots very easy, and is without doubt the most appealing function. We also like the Panorama option, which automatically 'stitches' together 2 or 3 shots as you pan the camera. There is a wide range of scene selections, or the option for full manual adjustment of the settings. We like this flexibility. The card slot will also take SDHC as well as SD cards. The most disappointing feature is the built-in microphone, which produces a background 'hiss' over movies, ... Although the movie picture quality is great (includes HD movie), the microphone lets the audio side down badly, making it not the best camera for home filming. Overall, though, we were satisfied with our purchase, and would probably buy a similar product again, providing the microphone issue could be improved.

Simple to use, ideal as a first "proper" camera
This product was recommended to me by a friend who is a very good photographer. I'm still learning how to get the best out of it, but in general it is reasonably simple to use (it would help if I read the manual hahaha!!. Will be taking it on holiday with me shortly and I am pretty confident that I will be able to get some great pictures of family (as well as kangaroos). The buttons and switches are easy to operate and with auto focus, red eye detector, blink detector etc. Therefore even an amateur like me is able to get some pretty good picturesThis product was recommended to me by a friend who is a very good photographer. Awsome product,excellent value
The product was a gift for my Neice we were going to Rome.The item arrived in excellent condition and has been fantastic,she took over 1,000 photos as well as recording 2 videos - the quality of which were excellent. Light weight,easy to use with lots of modern functions an excellent purchase

Great product! Would recommend for a low budget beginner dslr.
I brought this product as I was after a dslr. Not having much money this was the cheap option to start me off. Had this item for just over a month and love it!! I'm a beginner in photography and this camera makes things a lot easier. Great zoom, great picture quality, great focus and great flash... Everything you want from a dslr. Slight disappointment when i found out you can't fix lens'. However you can buy adapters :)I brought this product as I was after a dslr. Superb camera and great value for money
this camera does everything that I expected it to do and more. Picture quality is excellent, I love the twin viewing windows, and its easy to use. Maybe a larger zoom would have been better say 26X but perfect for everyday photography
