Saving grace of the game is in the multiplayer, Legends mode in particular.
The saving grace of this game comes in multiplayer, legends mode in particular shines. The online suite feels complete and fully fleshed out. The maps (although not memory enticing save one or two) work well with the gameplay model and feel balanced. Unlockables and leveling up have good timing and keep you coming back. I've only ran into lag a handful of times, so for the most part it's a fluid online experience. Being a James Bond aficionado I really- really wanted to enjoy the single player, but for the most part was unable to. Outside of the universe it's suppsed to be set in and a few cutscenes, nothing about this game is 007-esque. Think a 4-5 year old Call of Duty game with a Daniel Craig base coat slapped on it. One important thing to note is this is not a bad fps, it's just very by the numbers. Watch cutscene- enter area-kill bad guys- use set piece- do quick time event- enter next area- repeat. This is fine if you're just looking for a short- middle of the road shoot 'em up. But this game is billed as a "best of" 007 experience, and it's not. The opening act is great and will leave Bond fans chomping at the bit to start the first level, then unfortunately they put a gun in your hand and- you do. Supposedly set in Goldfinger, you start at night outside of what looks like a military base owned by Auric himself. You talk with MI6 about staying unnoticed and gathering intel. Sounds like a Bond moment so far, right? Wrong. You then proceed to push a detonator that creates the equivalent of a full on military attack on the base, this culminates with a Harrier jet crashing in front of you.. Welcome to Call of Bondy. You make almost every room you enter look like Jonestown the morning after when you're done. They try to throw in a few gadget moments and stealth areas, but they simply feel like an afterthought. One saving grace could be the challenges mode. It provides a few hours of entertainment considering a few of these levels- although lacking any story, feel closer to a Bond game than the entire campaign. My 4/5 rating may seem high after reading this, but that's simply due to the fact I don't have the heart to give a Bond game a 3. At least the box art is nice.

I'm going to be blunt. This is most likely the weakest Bond game to date. While there's nothing necessarily broken here, there are some questionable design choices and wonky game mechanics (skiing and driving in particular) that bring this entry down to a very mediocre level. Visiting settings and villains from different Bond films is a nice touch. That said, it's still Daniel Craig (who I personally like as Bond) instead of the classic actors from those movies. Even some of the Bond Girls have changed their faces; notably Dr. Holly Goodhead and Jinx - who isn't even African American in this version. The missions that are based on those classic movies take a few liberties with the original narrative to fit this playable version. I'm okay with that where it helps pace the story and ... I'm going to be blunt. This is most likely the weakest Bond game to date. While there's nothing necessarily broken here, there are some questionable design choices and wonky game mechanics (skiing and driving in particular) that bring this entry down to a very mediocre level. Visiting settings and villains from different Bond films is a nice touch. That said, it's still Daniel Craig (who I personally like as Bond) instead of the classic actors from those movies. Even some of the Bond Girls have changed their faces; notably Dr. Holly Goodhead and Jinx - who isn't even African American in this version. The missions that are based on those classic movies take a few liberties with the original narrative to fit this playable version. I'm okay with that where it helps pace the story and action. However, even for a shooter, this game has segments where the sheer amount bad guys you have to gun down in order to pass to the next checkpoint borders on being plain silly. There are tons of hidden secrets and optional objectives to seek out depending on what difficulty you're playing on. Usually, I would applaud the replay value there, but unfortunately the overall game itself is too dry to encourage more than a single playthrough. This game does feature multiplayer, but the servers are dead. I couldn't find a single game online. Not surprising for 4 year old port of a title from a different system. Developer Eurocom's last Bond game, Goldeneye Reloaded, did a lot of things right. Sadly, this experience didn't quite measure up.

Pretty bad 007 game...
The story line is impossible to understand. Load times are outrageous! Die an inch from the checkpoint and you will wait a full 5 minutes to 'reload'. The graphics are very choppy - the frames drop constantly. The game is actually a bit frustrating, because there is absolutely no explanation of alternate objectives, and the story line is bizarre. This seems to be an exception in the 007 series of games - very poorly conceptualized and executed.The story line is impossible to understand. Load times are outrageous! 007 Video games
Game was well produced and true to its movie origins with different variations to keep the player in suspense. It was great to hear the voices of original actors, Judy Dench, Naomie Harris, Carey Lowell, Toby Stephens, and Michael Lonsdale. Other voices were close enough to the original actors.
