Amazing series, consistently brutal and entertaining
A few years back I was browsing Amazon searching for something good to spend my money on. What I found was The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. I was hooked. I've been buying these issues as soon as they come out for about 4 years now, and I've never felt let down in the least bit. Even when the series slows down a little bit (around issues 5-6 or so), you'll be too engaged with the story and involved with the characters to care or even notice. The series is constantly shifting pace, and the author pulled strings you wouldn't expect. Expect huge twists, cliffhangers, surprising surprises, bad-ass characters, sadistic characters, characters that make you want to tear their faces out of the book, characters you want to survive (but don't count on it), etc. etc. etc. I ... got enough zombies yet?
Having a wide wide experience with the zombie lore i must recommend this, after zombie books and most all the movies, zomedies included, this is a must - i've checked out and bought other zombie comics... this is the best, don't miss it, you won't be disappointed. With well over 5 years of success this comic has more than proved itself... my favorite zombie movie, DAWN OF THE DEAD, REMAKE (2004). too bad romero, after being exhumed and risen from the dead to make LAND OF THE DEAD, didn't have nearly the budget this film did... someday this medium/genre and its own separate horror category will be taken seriously and they will budget huge dollars for it, i hope, but the will smith CGI rage zombies were too much, even though i also enjoyed I AM LEGEND and will have to ... Well received gift!
I purchased this book for my boyfriend's son who is a huge Walking Dead fan. He wanted to start reading the comics and was very happy and excited to receive this first volume on Christmas morning!

love it

The walking dead
I read this book before I purchased it. The story is like no other zombie story I have ever experienced.It really isn't focused on the zombies too much, but around a group of survivors trying to essentially survive, but slowly losing their mind in doing so. It kind of of Lost the show, only with Zombies. It has everything a survival drama could have: violence, love, intensity, etc. This book makes you feel what the group is feeling in the story. I bought it because I feel it will be a story I would read again in the future. I recommend it for anyone who is in to survival horror drama. I think it would be a great movie.I read this book before I purchased it.
