Old, used, but they do work (mostly)
Perfectly fits my SL-Q2 turntable. The hinges work - however they are "worn" in that the part of the plastic (or bakelite - or whatever the material is) that normally stops the hinges from opening too far is in such condition (worn/scraped/damaged) that the hinge has no natural stopping point when raised and the hinge will open too far. That said, it still works but not as "normal". I am still OK with the purchase as these hinges are really hard to find. I got my turntable from a friend years ago and the hinges were missing, so I am happy to have them. I am still trying to figure out HOW to create a reliable stopping point on them, so if anyone has an idea... I am open to suggestions!Perfectly fits my SL-Q2 turntable. Best of the mid priced Technics with Direct Drive, Quartz locked speeds and a heavy platter!
The Technics SL-Q2/Q3 are two very good turntables with both accurate auto on function and the semi-auto feature the SL-Q2 uses(My table of choice) since pure manual tables will just sit at the end of a LP and damage the stylus if your not quick to lift it off the record. However, this table is excellent and still works like new even though it was manufactured in 1979 to 1980 and is now 40+ years old. I added some synthetic oil to my tables main bearing at least 2 drops once a year for perfect maintenance. (It's special oil designed just for the Technics tables) although I'm sure it works on the main bearing of any direct drive turntable The only two downsides are the extra cheap RCA patch cables this table is hardwired with is a possible issue. I'll have to get someone that can solder ... I'll have to get someone that can solder very tiny wires on an odd Technics internal board and solder in some new nicer 1 1/2 foot RCA patch cables. I can solder pretty well and I tried this on a busted Techincs SL-Q3 and I could not get the wires to lie flat while the blop of solder go's on top of the bare wire, Great table for the money and one of my favorite Technics that can run a Denon DL-103 low output moving coil cartridge really well and it does not add any audible noise from the high end phono stage I currently have it plunged into.
