À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Taking a more realistic approach to military combat than many of its contemporaries, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set on the fictitious Russian island of Skira, a target of acquisition by the Chinese PLA. Your mission, as a soldier in the U.S. Marine Corps, is to forcefully address the situation before full-scale war erupts between the two countries. How you achieve your objectives is up to you, with the game allowing you the freedom to decide on the best course of action in a wide-open world. Employ real-life military strategies, issuing commands to flank, assault, and suppress, while guiding your squad into buildings, adjusting formations, and reacting to an enemy that will alter its tactics in real time. You can also commandeer tanks, jeeps, attack helicopters, and many other vehicles to complete mission goals. Up to eight players can battle each other online in various team-oriented multiplayer modes.

Avis les plus pertinents

  • Its uniqueness does offer a breath of fresh air!

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is something you don't see every day on consoles, and its uniqueness does offer a breath of fresh air amidst the myriad twitch and sci-fi shooters out there. This is one of the more realistic war games you'll find on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, with a sense of tension built out of life or death situations rather than over-the-top action. I had fun with Dragon Rising, despite the fact that it consistently showed a lack of polish through weak artificial intelligence, middle of the road presentation, and its fair share of bugs. 5.0 Presentation Don't come looking for bells and whistles, or even any cutscenes introducing a level. 7.0 Graphics A wide open world that occasionally looks underwhelming. 6.0 Sound Rarely will the gunfire or explosions pack the ...

  • Great war simulation. Not for noobs.

Unlike COD or Halo, if you're a football field away from the enemy, you're going to be dead. Leave your squad to flank by yourself? You'll get shot in the rear. Fire at everything that moves? You'll run out of ammo fast and be using your hand gun, essentially becoming useless in a rolling firefight. Cross open territory while an enemy copter is half a click from you, they'll see you, and your whole squad is toast. In other words, its probably about as legit as a game can be simulating a real battle (though that's not to say its possible to compare such things - it isn't). Once you get a handle on squad tactics and learn to spot movement 200-600 yards away (you'll need a HDTV for this game), its pretty much a big sandbox. You can attack or evade, ...

  • Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Having played the original, I had to buy this follow up. If you are a fan of fast paced, mindless, first person shooters with no story, and tons of action this is not the game for you. If instead you are a fan of the most realistic combat you can be involved in, short of shipping off to Iraq, this is your game. Stunning visuals, realistic game play, and a story that could actually happen make this a very good and realistic game. On the same note however very strict mission parameters don't allow you time to just blaze away at endless hordes of bad guys, which would be a good option to break up the realism.

  • Solid MilSim contribution

Coming from a veteran of the first OF, this iteration is a very solid second outing. While the transfer from PC to console cost some fun and valuable elements of the game, the overall feel is very satisfying. In a world where the mainstreaming of milsims is far too prevalent, this was a breath of fresh air to get my hands on. I would've loved to see more vehicle combat in the campaign, and more land navigation elements as before. The single missions all seem shoddily thrown together and the multiplayer interface is atrocious. Gameplay is still comfortable and enjoyable, and ballistic accuracy and detail is very satisfying. All in all, this is a definite buy for the shooter who's craving some trigger time to rival the greats of old.

  • Simulation modern war game

I's a good game if you are looking for something different as tradicional shooters: - Huge environment which you can move freely and decide your approach to face the objective; - Some vehicles and weapons to be used; - Good co-operative for 4 players - probably won't survive playing alone; - Simulation: one shoot kills, medic toolkits, etc..; Graphics are not so bad but could be better also the IA as well(sometimes the CPU soldiers get stuck).
