I can' t believe how good this movie is.
This movie has a certain feel about that' s hard to describe. You just have to see it for yourself. The slowly rotating blue lights on the sheriff cars always left an impression on me. This is Joe Don Baker's finest role with an honorable mention for Bruce Glover as Sheriff Pusser's # 1 deputy. It's a true story. That's what makes it even more moving and powerful and so very sad. Definitely one the greatest stories ever told. Highly recommended.This movie has a certain feel about that' s hard to describe. You just have to see it for yourself. Walking Tall with Joe Don Baker
I have to confess that aside from being a big Joe Don Baker fan (he's a fellow Texan).......that I met Buford Pusser at a Sheriff's Conference in TN. I was very interested in his story. I saw the movie when it was first released & later started looking for a copy on DVD. I think it's the best of all the Walking Tall Series & am very pleased to have found a copy. Aside from all of that, I think it depicts the corruption in many towns across the country & in most places nothing is ever done about it. Buford Pusser was a special kind of person who believed in equality & justice for all & wasn't afraid to stand up for what he believed. Too bad he is gone & there are so few like him around today. Good version of old favorite
It was a very entertaining movie that followed Buford Pusser's story as close as possible. I particularly like this dvd version by Rhino because it included scenes where the boom mike was visible plus a few other bloopers that aren't available on new versions.

BEST MOVIE EVER!
I saw this movie when it came out in 1973. I had never seen or heard tell of Joe Don Baker before that. I was SO IMPRESSED by him and by the movie that I never forgot the little details, even tho I never got to see the entire movie again until spring 2012 when I just broke down and bought it for myself! Since then, I have watched it over and over. When it gets to the part where Pauline gets killed, I rewind it and start over. That part is too horribly sad. This is like the BEST movie ever made. I was so disappointed when Joe Don was not in the 2 _Walking Tall_ sequels, but Bo Svenson was good also. DON'T EVEN waste your money or time buying any other so-called _Walking Tall_ because you will be cheating yourself! Since I bought this movie, I have begun a collection ...
