Synopsis
Elborough tells the story of the Routemaster - a bus designed and made in London, by Londoners for Londoners and, as the Routemaster fleet is formally retired, remembers the vehicle that has come to symbolise the city in the eyes of much of the world. This edition has been revised to include the Routemaster's last run., The story of the routemaster's invention, rise and decline, of the people who worked on it, and of the enthusiasts who were mad about it. The streets will never be the same again, The story of the routemaster's invention, rise and decline, of the people who worked on it, and of the enthusiasts who were mad about it. The streets will never be the same again In December 2005, London lost one its most famous symbols: the Routemaster bus - a bus designed and made in London, by Londoners for Londoners, which was to London what the gondola is to Venice. In terms of postcards, books, films, and cheap souvenirs, and in the eyes of the world, the Routemaster represented the city just as much as Big Ben. It was the last bus to be have conductors as well as drivers, the last bus to ring familiar shouts that are at least a century old: 'Fares please, Full up inside but room on top, Next stop the British Museum!' The last bus, in other words, to be a proper bus.

Dernier moisAchat vérifiéItem in condition described. The shipment tracking was completely opaque and shipping was slow. The seller used a third-party shipping solution provider that gave a USPS tracking number, but, USPS had no real tracking info. I was not able to see any delivery estimate until the day before it arrived. When the delivery date estimate finally materialized, it was off by two days, saying arrival would be on e.g. the 5th when it actually arrived on the 3rd.
- b***3 (502)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Dernier moisAchat vérifiéAs the title mentions awesomebooksusa, most books have been rarely awesome but the book prices have been almost generous, granted. Unbelievable services : 3 day international shipping, prompt dispatch, newly book condition, provided tracking, secure package, exactly received book, and safe deliveries. My gratitude to the seller’s thoughts of the needy buyers sending the wanted books to the new residence. Many thanks! Arabella
