PLOT: MADE IN 1976 & 1977~ in 2 parts now in one volume~ EARLY YEARS~ bio and back ground of how they met and married~ Volume 2 White House Years~ 4 Terms and World War 2~ excellent all the way~ WINNER OF 18 combined Emmy Awards~ Jane Alexander shines as the plain but very well educated Eleanor who meets the lawyer and distant cousin handsome Franklin Roosevelt~ played very well by Edward Herrmann~ Volume one is the early years~ meeting and marriage is the fun between Eleanor who has more brains than looks and the handsome Franlin along the way we see the betrayal of adultry by Franklin with Lucy the lovely social secretary so now the fate is played when the couple stay together for the children and the political apirations for him~ add Franklins pushy dominating mother~ Part Two: ... Glad it got to be on DVD
I love history that I can see happen after it's happened, and what a better way then to see a very well done reinactment. I bought the VHS tapes years ago and was only too happy to update my collection to DVD. I love pictures, photographs, and color and have many other historical moments on pages, tape, discs and even in my head. So I always check out EBAY to see if some of my interests appear on the board. Eleanor and Franklin( the early years & the white house
I havae for several years owned the 4 VHS tapes it took to cover the same material. I loved them so that when they became available in DVD I not only bought a set for myself, I bought a set to donate to our high school library. This is one of the best "history movies" I've ever seen. The acting is great & the story is told wth truth & respect. A must see for any history lover.

I am a student of history, especially these years, because my parents were raised then and I have always be interested in F D R and Eleanor Roosevelt- I have read several books about them and have always watched anything from movies to documentaries about them. This spans the years from F D R's and Eleanor's early days until his death in April of 1945. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to know about these very interesting people.
