    A great starter or back up DSLR

    I bought this camera as a back up on my Rebel t3i about 3 weeks ago. Its been great to compare the two in terms of performance and quality and there are some differences, as you would expect from camera designs separated by nearly a decade. The large flip out screen on the t3i makes a huge difference when out and about - taking tricky angle shots is where this comes into its own. The 20d's tiny screen is next to useless but as I take multiple shots and edit afterwards this is not the end of the world. The file size is something else that the t3i is far superior over the 20d - the extra 10mb+ that the t3i has is notable, depending on the complexity of the photo and whether you mess around with photomontaging. However its not all doom and gloom - once getting the hang of the 20d the extra ...

    Canon EOS 20D

    I bought the EOS 20D for a very reasonable price, fully expecting some hang ups. On receipt of the item I took it to pieces cleaned and overhauled everything that I could. Reassembled the camera fitted a pre charged battery and a lens and set off round the garden. I now have a beautifully handling camera which is an absolute delight to use and has already produced some stunning shots. It is my first move up to a semi-pro camera and a quantum leap from my other DSLRs. I would recommend this camera to anyone wanting to move up from the starter type DSLR.

    Good back up.

    It may be 20 year old technology but it still can knock out a good picture , as a back up / 2nd body its ideal . You just have to think a bit more , [ not a bad thing ] . Very happy with this camera.

    Excellent back up camera at an excellent second hand price point.

    Although this Canon model is some years old for the money it is still very useable as a solid and reliable no frills DSLR that can still deliver good performance with good lenses. I have used the 20D for weddings and studio work and I would highly recommend this camera either as a back-up to something more modern if you can afford that luxury or as an excellent learning tool for even more sophisticated models in the future. The second hand model I purchased was in very good condition and cost a third of the current model the 600D !
