A series of concerts designed to coincide with the annual G8 Summit and to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, Live 8 was held in nine cities around the globe on July 2nd, 2005. These locations included South Africa and all of the G8 nations, where over 1,000 musicians performed in the spirit of increasing awareness to issues facing impoverished nations. Some of the topics being stressed to the Summit leaders were debt relief, AIDS, the importance of fair trade, and an increase in U.S. aid to struggling countries. LIVE 8 presents standout performances from concerts across the nine cities, as well as the full list of artists from the Hyde Park and Philadelphia shows. Over 120 songs are gathered here, with appearances from such big names in music as Paul McCartney, U2, George Michael, a reunited Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, Madonna, The Who, Snoop Dogg, Bjork, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, and more.

A good but not great DVD
I like the variety of artists on the DVD, of course I don't like a lot of them, but there are plenty I do like. I disliked the fact that some of the artists I wanted to hear more from, they cut out most the songs, for instance, Green Day did a whole concert and Live 8 chose to play a couple of the songs, and not the ones I wanted to see and hear. A lot of the bands play songs that were not their popular hits but wannabees. Either that or Live 8 chose not to play the good songs on the DVD, lol. Another thing, and this is my opinion and mine only I know. These concerts are promoted to stop hunger and disease in Africa. I don't mind helping hungry and sick people, but I don't want to help those people who hold malice against the West like most the African nations ... I don't think anyone should be helping to feed and keep alive millions of children who will grow up and fight in Al-Queda against the U.S. and it's allies! If they want to accept our help, let them be Christianized or Buddhaized or Hinduized, Muslims consider everyone else as infidels. As a Christian, and most other religions we are tolerant, but I cannot and will not be tolerant of a religion that wishes me and my family, friends and loved ones ill will to include torture and death. Do not buy this CD new, buy it used on Ebay, that way no money will will be going to feed Muslims whose leaders use their countries money to buy weapons to kill those in the West. I do like this DVD in my collection.

Great variety and fantastic performances!
Such a treasure trove of performers, there is a lot to watch!! Already watched this twice. What a fun time machine of artists. Of course Live Aid was the best, but this is a good cause and made for a good concert!

Lots of bands from back in the day. They're all playing to support a good cause, too ! I bought the set for my granddaughter and she has watched it repeatedly !

4 dvds set of LiveAid.
These dvds are in good shape. I've watched 2 of 4. Brings back so many memories. I am so glad someone felt it was important to construct these. I know it was a very big project. Thank you!

Madonna & Beyonce was good; but the AWESOME arrived when PINK FLOYD did their thing! Live Aid 1985 REALLY ROCKED ALOT MORE.....
