Dokken was one of the better '80s Hair Metal Bands
I grew up listening to bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Metallica, Motley Crue, and Dokken. I was never really into "Hair Metal" but some bands did manage to catch my attention--Crue and Dokken especially. Motley Crue was leaning more towards the sleazy side of L.A while Dokken wrote albums that had love songs and didn't venture into sleaze. One major standout of Dokken's music was always George Lynch's guitar playing. Lynch can shred like the best of them and all of their albums were full of awesome guitar playing. This album, which I personally consider their best one ever, was chock full of heavy riffs, Don Dokken's best vocals, and the whole band just played perfectly. They really hit it big with their single "Dream Warriors" which was featured in one of the "Nightmare on ... Anybody into serious guitar playing should listen to "Mr. Scary" and learn a thing or two. I always compare that one to Loudness's "Flash Out" as two of the best Instrumental Metal songs ever recorded. I recommend "Back For The Attack" to anybody who's my age and grew up listening to Metal. Today's bands lack the talent and creativity that bands back in the '80s had. I hate listening to bands like Atreyu, Slipknot, etc. which have nothing to offer their listeners. I doubt either one of those bands will be around as long as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, or even Dokken have been.

classic dokken album
THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM. tHIS IS A CLASSIC dOKKEN ALBUM. i THINK THEY REALLEY STEPPED IT UP IN THE SONG WRITTING DEAPEARTMENT. i like most of the songs on this album. My favorites are Prisoner of The night, night by Night,and of course,the ballad Heaven sent. There's some good rockers on here too. Like Behind The wall and The kiss of death. I actualley don't know if this song The Kiss of death is a cover or an origional Dokken song. i also like George Lyntch's guitar playing. as on 1982's Breaking The CHains,his guitar playing reminds me a little bitt of Toney IOmmi, a little bitt of Randy Rhodes,and of course Eddie Van Halen. I was skeptical about this album at first but I must consceed that this album Dokken's Back for THe attack 1987 is quite a gem. GREAT GUITAR BUT WEAK,DULL SONGS
While the guitar work is awesome, the songs and lyrics are cheezy,boring and cliched.Both 'tooth and nail' and 'lock and key' have catchy,melodic metal songs that have feel and great guitar.This album though has no feel,is over produced(vocals),the lyrics are the worst metal has to offer and dons singing is forced,boring,annoying.Sounds like the band was totally uninspired to write another album and they slapped this one together in a hurry.Not surprisingly the band broke up after this tour because they hated one another. If you are a guitarist you cant miss this album cause George Lynch's playing is stellar.However his guitar playing alone cant carry the bad tunes.I listened to this album for a month,for the guitar mostly before i got bored by the tunes and quickly went back to listen to ... Purchased my 3rd Dokken back for the attack CD.. it's the OG 1987 disc like brand new!! Sounds killer like always!! Thank you so much

Naturally, Im a big fan of rock n roll but Dokken in my opinion is one of the best bands, not to mention that they are my favorite band. the first time I heard them I was 14 years old and thats not long ago for me I'm 20 years old now and they've been my favorite since.
