This Nikon SLR film camera equips an under/over-exposure indicator which indicates viewfinder information via a match needle. With a shutter speed of 1/2000-1 seconds, this Nikon camera renders images even before your hand shakes. Before clicking a picture have a look as to how much of your image is in focus sharply using the depth of field preview of this Nikon SLR film camera. Incorporating the Mirror lock-up feature this Nikon camera cuts down vibration-induced motion blur throughout exposure. The Nikon F2 Photomic 35mm film camera removes the need for you to wear glasses while taking a photo by allowing you to adjust the viewfinder as per your vision.

Still a solid performer
It would be presumptuous to review this classic, all I can say is that 42 years after it was made every single thing on this sample works perfectly. Obviously, others may have had a tougher life but I think it is significant that the workmanship is of such a high calibre that nothing is stiff or brittle after all this time - the Nikkor lenses I have are also free from common defects such as stiff grease affecting their focusing or greasy or broken irises. A good sample of a Nikon F2 Photomic with Nikkor lenses would be an excellent way to get into 35mm film photography at a comparatively low cost for top quality professional equipment. However, you have to do without all the convenient automations of modern cameras and get back to the basics of setting your shutter speed and aperture ... It would be presumptuous to review this classic, all I can say is that 42 years after it was made every single thing on this sample works perfectly. However, you have to do without all the convenient automations of modern cameras and get back to the basics of setting your shutter speed and aperture manually and hand focusing. One drawback for older photographers is that there is no built-in focus correction for poor eyesight, though screw-in correction lenses are available at a price (apparently you need one diopter less than the correction you have for reading glasses - so an eyeglass correction of +2 diopters needs a +1 screw-in lens).

Classic....for good reason.
It's my understanding that these are the last fully mechanical, hand built cameras by Nikon. I have later Nikons that are also excellent, but there is something special about a well made mechanical devise. I have carried my F2 all over the country on my motorcycle and it just alway works. If you are a film photographer and want the real deal you won't go wrong with one of these. There is also a lot of fabulous classic Nikon lenses that work on these cameras. Countless professionals had their reasons for carrying F2s.It's my understanding that these are the last fully mechanical, hand built cameras by Nikon. A great classic
I bought this camera since I am a Nikon fan since 18 and am 59 now. Recently I have returned to shooting on film. The camera seems to work fine, but the roll of film in it has yet to be developed. So I cannot honestly comment on the image quality or the quality of the camera, but I am satisfied with my purchase and it is a joy to use.

Quality through and through, great look and feel, lots of style lost today
This product was the state-of-the-art when it came out. While many innovations since then have greatly diminished its practical use, the quality, feel, and heft of this camera remain unsurpassed. Anyone considering getting back into film photography either in school or as a productive and satisfying pastime, don't hesitate to pick up one of these true icons of the art.
