1 of the happiest times that I can remember . . .
The VCR itself arrived in a good, clean and fine condition. I was very pleased. The quality of the film was excellent. It was enjoyable to watch a film that was 50 years old with such wonderful color and sharpness. This is a family film; no embarrassing reality. This movie is my speed. Comparatively speaking, the current movies are distasteful, violent and deal with perverted subject matter. In reference to my purchase of this VCR, it was a child's fantasy love affair. I remember going to the theatre with my older sister when I was about 7 years old. I insisted that we see this same movie each time we went. I know that I saw this movie more than ten (10) time -- probably more than that. My sister didn't want to continue seeing this same movie. I think she used to drop me off & ... This was my favorite movie with my favorite leading man as I was madly in love with the young caucasian american settler raised with integrity, kindness and moral values by an honorable indian tribe. My leading man had a mohawk hair cut. I remember thinking how handsome he was and how strikingly impressive was his profile with the prominent mohawk. The landscape in the film is magnificient. The trees are majestic, tall and proud. You can imagine how clean and wonderful the air smells in the forest and by the water. Succicntly, before I make everyone nauceous, I always remembered the name of this movie since I was a child. It left that much of an impression on me. I tried to find and buy this movie for many years. I felt intimidated to explore online sites as I'm rather old and didn't feel comfortable with all this newly fangled high tech stuff. My girlfriend's daughter found it for me on eBay. Having this movie was "just a dream come true." Finding this movie, melted my heart and now I have the courage to shop on eBay all by myself. One more point . . . watching this wonderful movie takes me back to a care-free time before my eyes were groomed to see responsibility, stress and taxes.

Classic 1950s Disney.
Years before Dan-O, the detective of 5-0 and friend of Steve McGarrit, James McArthur was under contract to Disney and did a series of adventure movies. He was far better than people have him credit for. So many Disney Legends are gone. Johnny Shiloh, Toby Tyler, Nine Lives of Elfego Baca, Texas John Slaughter, Davy Crockett. They only came out for a short run of DVDs and it was limited. The VHS tapes were produced in much larger runs. Why the company does not re release them???Ten Who Dared, Savage Sam the Old Yeller sequel-all like hens teeth. Wonderful memories. I love "the light in the forest", my movie Disney favourite. The movie is beautiful,wonderful, excellent.I love James MacArthur, great actor,splendid, is beautiful, lovely.He has something special.Great performance.Also excellent actors (Jessica Tandy, splendid Frank Ferguson,Fess Parker, Joseph Calleia,Wendell Corey...).The love Johnny and Shenandoe es lovely and the return to his home in Paxton es very moving,splendid. The movie has music marvellous, beautiful landscape. The movie is marvellous, intelligent and unforgettable. In language spanish Excelente película. Me encanta "the light in the forest" y me gustaría que la vendiesen en DVD.Es mi pelicula favorita.Me encanta James MacArthur, es hermoso, tiene alma, un gran encanto. Classic Disney
Though I love the book by Conrad Richter, I will say that I enjoy this film. If you are looking for a close adaptation of the book, you will not find it here. Disney, in his typical fashion, changed the plot from a story about conflict to about romance. However, be that as it may, this version is still fun, cute, and includes some of the best moments from the book including the face-off between True Son and Myra Butler. Overall, I would recommend the movie, just do not expect a close following of the book.Though I love the book by Conrad Richter, I will say that I enjoy this film. Walt Disney put out the VERY best in family entertainment.
Again, this is a film I purchased as part of a collection I've started. I have not seen it yet, but I hear that it has a very good story line and that it is clean wholesome family entertainment. AND, it's Disney, that says it all for me!! Walt Disney put out the VERY best in family viewing, and there is nothing more that can be said!
