The Olympus SP-550 UZ allows devoted amateurs and professional photographers alike to create high-quality photos and videos, providing numerous features that make this digital camera an ideal choice for creative expression. A distinctive feature of this Olympus 7.1 MP camera is its capability to shoot underwater photography when placed in the special Olympus underwater casing. Using this underwater digital camera, the photographer can select Underwater Wide-Angle or Underwater Macro modes, ideal for photographing marine life in their natural habitats. Furthermore, the Olympus 7.1 MP camera offers Macro and Super Macro modes for dry land environments, permitting shooting at distances as close as 3.9 inches and 0.39 inches, respectively. Camera users can increase or decrease the aperture value, from f/2.8 to f/8.0 in normal and macro modes and f/4.5 to f/8.0 for telephoto. The Fine Zoom feature gives the photographer the ability to zoom in up to 27x without reducing image quality. The Olympus SP-550 UZ also features Noise Reduction, which automatically activates when shooting darker subjects or in dim lighting conditions. This Olympus 7.1 MP camera uses autofocus (AF) and autoexposure (AE) locking to ensure the right settings depending on the environments. Focus modes on this camera include Full-time AF, AF Predict, AF Illuminate, and the standard AF as well as Manual Focus (MF). This underwater digital camera even features an alarm clock that activates and turns the camera on for those photographers who follow a daily schedule. This camera has a sleek black body and measures 4.6 inches in width by 3.1 inches in height by 3.1 inches in depth and weighs 12.9 oz.

    Awsome camera, good value!

    I am not by any means a professional photographer, and this camera is quite a step up from the "point and shoot" cameras I have used so far. That being said so far so good, I think the picture quality is fantastic, the camera fits the hand well and is light weight. I am really impressed with the ultra zoom, it amazes me how close you can bring distant objects. There seems to be decent battery life on the (included) rechargeable AA batteries (4 of them), and the fact that they are AA batteries that are available over the counter practically anyplace is an added bonus. All in all I like the camera and would recommend this item.

    Macro photography with this camera.

    I got this camera because I started a job taking macro photographs of jewelry which my boss sells on the web. I first tried his Canon Rebel with a macro 100mm Canon lens. Then I tried my Canon 5D with his expensive macros lens. But I couldn't get as good results with those, as with his Olympus Camedia 550 with a Super-Macro setting. That camera was pretty old and well-used, so it was temperamental, so I decided to get this camera used on ebay because it's pretty similar. It can focus as close as 1cm!!! I have had very good results and am able to change the white balance more than I can with the older Olympus to get realistic colors with the jewelry. This has an amazing 18x optical zoom, but I haven't used it yet for anything except the macro work, so I can't tell you any other results I ...

    Olympus SP 550UZ

    This is my new grab and go camera. I bought it used on eBay and got a really good deal on it. It takes excellent photos--every bit as good as my slr camera. It is very easy to use.

    I bought this camera because my other one quit working. I like all the features of the Olympus SP-550 UZ 7.1. Very easy to use and not too heavy.

    Olympus SP-550UZ

    This camera replaces a stolen Olympus C725 before that I was a high end 35mm user. This Sp-550uz is great for beginner or Pro users, easy point a click pictures or manual settings your choice. Many preset setups for different types of pictures makes it almost fool proof. You can even add lenses to it for super wide angle or telephoto. You can't go wrong with camera.
