Product Information

Love is a mortal sin, and the secrets of the past are deadly. Plunge into the third installment novel in the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series and "prepare to be hooked" ( Entertainment Weekly )--now with a gorgeous new cover, a map, a new foreword, and exclusive bonus content! City of Glass is a Shadowhunters novel. To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters--never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight. As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City--whatever the cost?

Reviews
"Pain is king and laughter is his fool. . . . The book achieves a subtle poignancy."—Chicago Sun-Times, "The writing is swift and breezy but with an underlying message that deals with guilt and pain. Because it's a novel, it's more sit-down comedy than stand-up. . . . Sometimes you laugh only when it hurts."—Charles Lee Boyd,The Post and Courier(Charleston, SC),  "Letterman writer Scheft skewers physical and emotional pain with a mercilessly comic touch and a bit of poignancy. . . . Phil is a wonderful protagonist, and Scheft's biting wit coexists nicely with the undercurrent of uplift."—Publishers Weekly, 'I have lived this story in real life, though mine wasn't nearly as funny, poignant, or compelling as his. On the other hand, I believe I'm much better looking than the fellow in this book and could probably take him in a fight.'—Larry David, "[Bill Scheft] plays both ends against the middle, satirizing our glib and cynical pop culture in a glib and cynical novel. Phil grows on us despite himself."—Amanda Heller,The Boston Globe, "Like [Woody] Allen, Scheft seems to know his way around the psychiatrist's couch; he has a keen sense of the emotional pathways of depression and of how therapy awkwardly leads people into and out of their worst experiences. . . . Scheft's rendering of family dysfunction is consistently sturdy. Much like Phil's fictitious self-help book: meant as a gag, but with enough smarts to be taken seriously."—Kirkus Reviews, "How rare it is for a novel to be both hilarious and profoundly moving. InEverything Hurts, Bill Scheft is firing on all eight rumbling, throaty cylinders." -- Richard Russo

  • Fantastic Read for those who loved Twilight Series

Was looking for something good after finishing Twilight series. This series caught my attention. I purchased the audiobooks, and found each one better than the last. I found it captivating almost from the start, Clarey and Chase's relationship which they couldn't pursue but still couldn't stop themselves, their friends and family, all in this fantiastical world of demon hunters, vampires, warlocks, fairies, betrayalsm and growing love. A lot of twists and turns keeps the reader attentativeness. Very enjoyable & highly recommended.

  • Fantastic work of fiction

I bought this book as soon it was availabe. Then, my daughter begged me to buy this book on cd for her enjoyment! I found the story ending the perfect mix of happy endings and loose endings. It was nice to leave alittle to our imagination and the possibility for a continuation of the saga. Also, I can't get enough of this story and my love for the story is a close second to the Twilight series. I was mesmerized by the plot, twist regarding the identity of Clary's real brother. I highly recommended this book and am sure the reader won't be disappointed.
