  • Great Book for the Novice Knitter

I love this book. The author gives several methods for performing knitting techniques, the instructions are easy to understand and she has pictures to accompany each written-out step. The patterns in this book are also very nice. I plan to work my way through all of them. I can't believe I am learning to knit so easily from reading this book. This book is better than other craft books I own.

  • Perfect!

If you are a begining knitter or are teaching someone how to knit, as I am, this is a perfect book. I highly recommend it and I figured I could count on Debbie Bliss. She takes you from the very beginnings and keeps it very simple, then gives you two projects that you can work on. She the moves on from garter stitch and purl stitch to increasing and decreasing. Again, she then gives two more patterns to master these skills. She gets into cabling the same way...etc. This book is perfect and if you follow what Debbie is saying and the photos which are very very good, you will have things that you are very proud of having knit for being a beginner. I say this, because these patterns are for beginners, but when all finished, sure do not look like you are a beginning knitter. If you can find ...

  • Great for beginner or advanced knitter!

This is one of my favorite knitting books - wish I had bought it before I had wasted a lot of $ on others. It is a good all purpose and has several projects for each stage of knitting. Debbie Bliss is a very classic designer; her look is elegant and straightforward, but definitely does not come out cheap looking. I have been knitting for about 10 years; more seriously the past 5 or so and really like her patterns. Shows cables, different stitches, adding color, different kinds of edgings, and describes finishing projects well. Would DEFINITELY recommend for friend interested in starting or finding out more about knitting.

  • A great knitting reference book for beginners and experienced alike.

As an experienced knitter, I have come to respect Debbie Bliss for her easy to follow instructions and beautiful patterns. My sister owned this book and as I looked through it, I realized that it was one that I really had to have. The illustrations are wonderful and her instructions clear and easy to understand. She also includes many different knitting techniques/stitch patterns and even a section on helping one design their own sweater! I felt very fortunate to have found this great book (and then to win the bid) through eBay. I would encourage anyone to find a copy for themselves.

  • One of the best reference books available for new or experienced knitters

I have purchased three copies of this book (one for me and one each for my daughters) because it is a wonderful reference book. It has instructions for all the basics: cast-on, cast-off, knit, purl, pick-up stitch, and make-a-stitch. The best reference point for me is the inclusion of many types of stitches: stockinette, moss, garter, ribbing, diamond panel, lattice, woven, seed, catepillar, chevron and checkerboard. It also has instructions for Fair Isle and Aran knitting.
