Product Information

Antoine Fuqua, the director of such action movies as TRAINING DAY and THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS, takes on government conspiracies in SHOOTER. Based on the book POINT OF IMPACT by Stephen Hunter, SHOOTER focuses on Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), a former Marine scout sniper who has retired to a log cabin in the middle of the woods after a supposedly standard mission got out of hand in Ethiopia. Three years later, Colonel Isaac Johnson (Danny Glover) shows up with two flunkies, trying to convince Swagger to help them thwart a plot to assassinate the president. Honor and duty get the better of him, and Swagger agrees to participate--only to find out that he has been set up, sending him on the run so he can discover who was really behind the shooting. With the whole world looking for him, the only people willing to help him are the widow of his former partner, Sarah (Kate Mara), and Nick Memphis (Michael Pena), a young FBI agent who refuses to stop investigating the case. Wahlberg, nominated for an Oscar for his supporting performance in THE DEPARTED, is excellent in the lead role of a complicated man who had turned his back on society, only to be thrust right back into the middle of it. Glover is solid as his arch-nemesis, who treats the situation as if it's some kind of game. SHOOTER is an action-filled suspense thriller that races through the streets of Philadelphia, New York, Kentucky, and Washington, DC, as well as Ethiopia in a violent search for answers.

Shooter is a movie about a U.S. trained sniper. He is trained to kill in order to protect different operations. He and his spotter and partner Donnie, who was killed three years ago, were on a mission in Africa. After the mission is over, they were abandoned, EXPENDABLE. After being abandoned, another firefight erupted and Donnie was killed. Bob Lee Swagger quit the business right after this, and the man who pulled the plug and left them behind came up dead one week later. Now, after three years, they are back again with a job that no true American could refuse. The President's life is in jeopardy. Suckered in one last time, it turns out to be another screwing! The man in charge is Danny Glover. Bob Lee finds himself set up and is accused of trying to shoot the president. His job was just ... Shooter is a movie about a U.S. trained sniper. The real target is an African Arch-Bishop who had knowledge of a massacre in Africa where over 400 civilians were slaughtered three years ago so that an oil pipeline could be laid. He was going to speak with the President and show proof of who was responsible. Unknowingly, Bob Lee and Donnie had covered he killers' escape. He was standing next to the President, and it was made to look like an attempt on his life. In the process, Bob Lee is shot, but gets away. His rifle and fingerprints were left at the scene. This is typical CIA work. Have an assassin do a job and right away, take out the assassin. Dead men tell no tales. Bob Lee gets to Donnie's ex-wife and with her help figures out what has happened. A young FBI agent who was in the area when the shooting went down, Nick Memphis, refuses to quit investigating the case. He knows that he is being set up and refuses to go down without a fight. Memphis teams up with Bob Lee to expose this plan. It includes former snipers, military leaders, and even a U.S. Senator. The ending is full of action and is enjoyable.

Great HD DVD
HD-DVD is encoded in High Definition 1080p format. The movie its sharpness, and eye-popping colors are just stunning. Black levels are inky with excellent grey shadow detail, and contrasts are deep. The movie itself is great and if you are already a fan of the DVD the HD-DVD is what you want. One problem with HD-DVD is that with the HD/Blu Ray debate some traditional stores are not stocking them until there is a clear winner. HD DVD Shooter
Action Packed!!! Better than Bourne Trilogy in my opinion. The ballistic information is correct and believeable. Scenes and special effects are awesome. I bought because this is one of the few movies you can watch over again and not be bored.

A great action movie, edge of your seat stuff
I was sort of putting off seeing this movie cause mark wahlberg but sure glad I watched it. What a great movie with no dull moments. Must see for anyone that has not watched the movie yet.

This was a really good movie. I rented it via Netflix. I like it so much that I decided to get a copy on eBay. Since I purchased an HD DVD player, the picture looks great.
