Product Information

Sony's in-house basketball franchise marks its second PS3 release with a brand new "Games of the Week" feature that allows players to re-create five scenarios from the previous week's real-world NBA action. Abandoning "The Life" feature to the PS2 platform, NBA '08 instead focuses more on a system of advancement, called the upside progression system, where gamers complete a series of goals to earn rewards that allow for increased player customization. Other new features include expanded use of the wireless Sixaxis controller, all new audio commentary from Seattle announcer Kevin Calabro and former player Mark Jackson, new player animations, momentum based contact physics, and an enhanced online system with player profiles. Gamers can also try their hand at the Own the Court, 3 Pt Contest, and Skill Challenge mini-games.

Could Be Better
NBA 08 is an average title, but it is so close to being great. The rainbow shot meter is a great shot meter for a basketball title. And the create a player is very addicting. In fact its this titles saving grace. Being able to use points earned during the game play to add stats to your player and unlock anything from jerseys to arenas, this is without a doubt the best part of the title. But the game play is sketchy at best and it has no franchise, which really is a must for any sports sim title. If your looking just to buy one NBA game, NBA 2k8 is far and away better than this title and should be the one of the three that you buy. But NBA 08 has its merits and hopefully next years title will be better.NBA 08 is an average title, but it is so close to being great. Worse NBA game of year
This is definitly the worst of the three NBA games released in 2007(NBA 08, Live 08, and 2k8). "The Life" is one of the most atrocious things ever put in a basketball game. They give you stupid things to do in the game, and the storyline makes no sense whatsoever. The overall gameplay is horrible: The movements of players are very unrealistic, the skills of players are also stupid. For example, a Center on any team can hit a 3 pt shot if they're open almost all the time, but a great shooter(Kobe, Lebron, T-Mac, etc.) hardly ever hits a contested 3. I mean, a Center like Shaq or Yao can hit 3's if left open about 60% of the time, but Kobe only shoots 10% from 3 when he's contested. This is just one of those games where you play for 5 minutes and you're like, "wait, why'd I buy/rent this game again?" It really hasn't improved at all from the 06 or 07 game. I'd honestly say that NBA Live 04 was better than this game. Seriously, if you buy this game and like it, go get your brain checked. I just wonder why whatever company makes this game keeps trying ever year, cuz it's obviously not getting any better.

great game
must have for any basketball fan. I bought this game a month ago and can't stop playing it. This game has great features and sweet graphics and replays. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Best NBA Playstation Game!
This is by far the best NBA game series for the Playstation. The gameplay and grafics are much better than the other NBA game options. I rate this game with high marks and would say without a doubt if you are and NBA fan this is the game for you.

game was cheap but not cheaply made
purchased the game at a great value. played the game and havent been able to put it down. graphic are very nice. shooting is awsome. the only dislike is the actual game play easy is to easy and hard is imposible.
