Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PC)
Guitar Hero III for PC has a few problems that I'm sure anyone who's put some thought into purchasing it is already aware of. Firstly, all of the guitars I've ever used that come with any Guitar Hero games have a tendency to break after a while. They are still playable, though the whammy bar will stop working after continued use (or maybe abuse). This is easily avoidable by taking care of the controller. Secondly, the PC version of this game has had many complaints about latency issues. Though I've never played online (and have no idea what kind of connectivity issues exist there, if any) I've never experienced lag within the game outside of what would be considered 'normal.' Of course, like with all PC games, you do actually need to check the hardware and software requirements before ... Just because this is a console-turned PC game does not mean that it will work on everyone's PC. Unfortunately the requirements for this game are what I would consider to be quite high (in comparison to the average computer purchased through Best Buy, and thus the average user). Be aware of this if you ever intend to buy it. Another thing to keep in mind is that with Windows Vista, you will have lag issues if you're not running a high end machine. Vista alone uses almost 1 GB of RAM in normal operation, leaving 1 GB left over for Guitar Hero (minus whatever programs you already have running, like Firefox or Internet Explorer). If a new window tries to open while you're playing the game, you will most likely see a lag spike in play which is only temporary - but could cause you to lose the song, especially on Hard or Expert modes. This is just normal for computer games because computers perform more than one function (unlike a console which can also lag for different reasons). Obviously this spontaneous lag can be prevented as well if you close all of your applications (including MSN, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc) then at least those windows won't be popping up as you are playing Guitar Hero). Summary: 1. Your whammy bar shouldn't revert you to the age of 3, bringing back the desire to slam on it until it breaks. 2. Check the system requirements, or you may end up being unable to play. 3. If you're running Vista, take into account the memory (RAM) usage Guitar Hero requires, and how much memory (RAM) is ACTUALLY available for you to use with Vista running. There are many guides on how to limit the processes Vista uses (and also programs you can download to do the work for you) which can help. 4. If you do buy the game, and you are having problems running it, try turning down the graphics in the game's settings. I think the game is great and it runs perfectly on my computer. It's not the game's fault if your computer can't run it, thus I'm giving the game a 'Good' rating. However, on a more technical side - I think the game could have been made in such a way that it required less to run. The graphics are not that intense and there's really not a whole lot going on. This would have made the game more viable for the "Sims" crowd, and probably the majority of people who wanted to play it versus the (probably) minuscule amount of gamers that have high-end computers and play Guitar Hero.

Guitar Hero III (PC) - A valiant effort
Everything about this product is just like its 360 counter part: It runs when you insert the disk, the songs are the same, the players are the same, the guitar works when you plug it into the USB port, and it requires an ungodly amount of graphical and CPU power. I tried the game on three different systems, the first two easily met the recommended specs and during both I experienced choppy play. The third system plays the game without a hitch but has a much faster CPU than recommended, more RAM than recommended, and more dedicated graphics memory. If you have a gaming system with speakers and monitor that you enjoy, this is a great buy (an excellent alternative to buying the whole xbox 360 setup). However, if have a 360/PlayStation already or just don't have a computer with a lot more ... If there are any chinks in the armor of this sequel, it's that some of the newer mode additions and a few odd design decisions do more to get in the way of the fun than anything else, and the extreme difficulty of some of the game's more severe songs might end up turning off newer players. And PC owners will have their own unique quirks to deal with, such as puzzlingly high system requirements, sluggish performance, and an online mode that's rather finicky about whether it wants to work or not.

Decent game with low system requirements.
This is a casual game, hence its wide appeal. Obviously, it's not as fun without the guitar controller but it's kind of fun. Great for a younger person, and it's a breath of fresh air in that it has no blood or gore or goriness. Compare that to Bioshock (great game but DARK, really DARK), etc. I got it because it seems like something relaxing to do on the go on my laptop. I think it'll serve that purpose ok. I'm a geek, and even for me the keyboard controls get to be pretty tough as you get past the easy difficulty level.This is a casual game, hence its wide appeal. Doesn't come with a guitar
I was under the impression that it came with a guitar so when I got the game alone I was a little disappointed, that's probably just my fault for not reading thoroughly I guess. One reviewer mentioned receiving a guitar so I don't know. The game itself is brand new as advertised in working condition 10/10 good job
