The sequel to THE GODFATHER tells the story of both a young Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro), newly arrived in America, and his son Michael (Al Pacino) 40 years later, running the family empire. On the streets of Hell's Kitchen in 1917 New York City, Vito is initiated into the ways of the local Cosa Nostra by his friend Clemenza (Bruno Kirby). After killing the local mafioso in a towel-wrapped gun, Vito becomes the new man to be respected and feared. Meanwhile, a dour Michael Corleone negotiates with business partner Hyman Roth (legendary Method-acting teacher Lee Strasberg in his first film role) in Cuba and testifies in front of a Washington Senate committee. Robert Duvall (Tom Hagen), Diane Keaton (Kay Corleone), Talia Shire (Connie Corleone), and John Cazale (Fredo Corleone), reprising their roles from THE GODFATHER, are outstanding as the people forced to watch the new godfather's moral destruction. De Niro, speaking in Italian, captures the mannerisms of Marlon Brando's Vito Corleone from the first film brilliantly. THE GODFATHER PART II is one of the only major sequels ever made that might just surpass the original.

This item has the original package but looked suspiciously used. There were small stains on the base and the base pillow seemed like it had been washed and was now a bit lumpy. It was cleaned and still in good condition so I kept it bc I really wanted to use the item with my newborn.

Loved It!
A continuation of the first "Godfather"...a look at how Michael evolves and what he becomes as he takes over and runs his father's "business". The flashbacks into the life and beginnings of Vito, his father, provide an understanding of how it all started,and adds further understanding into the times and culture of that period as immigrants struggled to exist in the "land of opportunity and freedom". A terrific and candid look at a powerful crime family and its evolution from one generation to another. Pacino is as powerful in this performance as he was in the first...only colder and harder in his character. Superb in this role.A continuation of the first "Godfather"...a look at how Michael evolves and what he becomes as he takes over and runs his father's "business". Second edition of the Godfather Trilogy. This film goes back and chronicles the early years of Vito Corleone's life from the time of his boyhood, the killing of his family, and his subsequent immigration to the USA in 1901. The film skips forward to around 1920 where Vito meets Clemensa and begins his journey into a life of crime. As the movie jumps forward again, this time to the 1950's with Michael now firmly in charge, the family has now moved to Nevada. The gambling, prostitution, loan-sharking and racketeering have now spread to Vegas and Cuba with partner Himan Roth. Filled with assassinations and double-crosses, even with eventual attempts on Michael's life by his own brother, Fredo. This film picks up and continues the story of the power of this thing called the MAFIA. This film ... Second edition of the Godfather Trilogy.
