Echoing the praise of many others
The Black Echo was Connelly's first novel, and since its publication more than fifteen years ago, many readers have praised it. After all, it started a modest landslide of novels that has taken him all the way to this year's "Nine Dragons," released in October 2009. The Black Echo is a fascinating book, with an intricate plot and just enough back story and character color to keep it from being merely a page turner. You can go slowly and savor some of the more literary passages while enjoying the pace of a detective thriller. Connelly branched out after this first novel, but kept tying his characters together between stories. He created policemen, lawyers, journalists, and FBI agents who were tied with one another romantically or professionally, and the allusions to these characters, ... Excellent Book! First is Bosch Series
Michael Connelly’s first book. Great characters and insight into police investigations! If you like suspenseful mysteries, you will like the book.

Good intro to Harry Bosch.
As usual, the book is different from the television series. Good read, and the back story of how the author re-aquired the rights to the Harry Bosch titles is interesting.

Outstanding Police Novel
This is the most accurate cop story I have ever read. Read just one of the Bosch books and you will be hooked. Michael McConnelly's first book and the beginning of a long string of home runs. I worked in law enforcement for over 20 years and assure you that what he writes is uncannily accurate. Bosch, lead character, now a series on cable.

I was very excited to receive Michael Connelly's first book, Black Echo. And it was a first edition and signed which was a surprise. There was a little note written in the book by a person who read it in Alaska -- noting the glaciers he saw while reading. This book is very exciting and we meet Harry Bosch for the first time -- Connelly starts off with a fast paced story that twists and turns with fun and adventure and never lets you down.
