    The good old days...brought back to life

    What I most enjoyed about the DVDs of the 1977 World Series was the detail...the little things that brought 1977 back to life: the hard color of the tapes at the time, the fashions, the haircuts, the banter between Ho-ward Cosell, Keith Jackson, and Tom Seaver, which is gone, now (happily in the case of Cosell, of whom Dick Young wrote, "He changed his name, wears a toupee, and says he 'tells it like it is.'"). The 1977 World Series also brought back a Yankee team that stood out as one of the most colorful and volatile in the history of the organization and all of baseball, a four-way soap opera between Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson, Billy Martin, and George M. Steinbrenner III, in all their drama and histrionics. Ultimately, Reggie Jackson was the winner, with three home runs on three ...

    1977 World Series Collector's Edition DVD

    This DVD set is awesome. It features the complete World Series television coverage in its entirety plus Game 5 of the American League Championship Series (Yankees vs. Royals). Game 6 of course features Reggie Jackson's three home run game, perhaps the greatest individual performance in World Series history. The set also includes the locker room celebration as well as the presentation of the World Championship trophy. The interviews with the ex-players were entertaining as well. It's funny that this club was referred to as "The Best Team Money Could Buy" as the highest paid player was making about $350,000 which would make him a pauper in today's game. I'm looking forward to buying other World Series collections as they become available.

    A Must Own For Yankee / Dodger Fans

    This dvd collection is just flat out beautiful. I am a huge Dodger Fan and my wife is a Huge Yankee fan. Our families sat down one day and watched the series and were blown away. The collection is put together very well and the history is just beautiful to see. You can find this collection pretty cheap on ebay and its so worth it. I am not the biggest baseball fan out there, but I loved this set! Again you must own this if your any type of Dodger or Yankee Fan. I would seriously recommend this to anyone who is just a fan of baseball in general. This set represents a time when baseball brought everyone together. You can feel the passion behind each pitch and the fun of a truly hated rivalry. This was baseball at its best and unlike anything I had ever seen in my life. I was not ...

    A wonderful piece of history

    This is an excellent package of dvds for Yankee fans, baseball fans and historians alike. The crystal clear picture and sound are better than I expected. The extra features on the dvd include vintage and new footage that enhance the package. To be able to relive the magic of Reggie Jackson's game 6 heroics and to see the late legendary Yankee captain, Thurman Munson, one more time, make this package a must. It is worth every dime you need to pay for it.

    Yankees History

    Awesome! Every game, in its entirety. There are a few dead spots due to some minor damage from the master films, but they don't take anything away from the overall experience. The set provides a wonderful trip down memory lane, and the commentary by the broadcasters(including Howard Cosell and Keith Jackson) only adds to the flashback. It would've been a nice touch to have Frank Messer, Phil Rizutto, and Bill White calling the games, but overall no complaints. Highly recommended for any Yankees fan.
