Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch begins as two friends, Chris and Jurio, make a pilgrimage to five shrines in honor of their coming-of-age. Players will lead the two through this journey while searching for the Moonlight Witch and a solution to the dangers of the Raual Wave. The second game in the Legend of Heroes series brings back the pet system first introduced in Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion, and players may have multiple pets in their inventory, but can only use one animal at a time. Pets can find items, and provide assistance in battle. <br><br>Players will walk through a map littered with color-coded enemies who are all ranked on strength. Players may choose to engage in a fight or leave the creature alone, especially if the monster looks like it may leave players mangled and wishing they had walked a little to the left. Lower-level enemies will avoid the group, and when the initial attack is made, the battle sequence will begin. The action is turn-based play with options for melee and magic attacks, or item use, and maxing out the special gauge will result in a super assault that often deals one-hit kills.

    16 bit RPG goodness on the PSP

    Legend of Heroes II on the PSP is somewhat of a disappointment compared to the first installment. Technically, this is the first in the series for the PSP however it was released as the sequel. The game play, albeit fun, is not up to the standard set by the first game in the series and definitely not at the same level as the third installment. That being said, if you play this game before the other two, you will enjoy it quite a bit more. This game is pure old school RPG and I am talking about the 16 bit era. The graphics have been beefed up but the play mechanics are definitely from the 90s. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. Playing through the game, you will develop a party of up to 4 characters and visit many lands. The game should take about 25 hours total play to ...

    Oldschool RPG with some translation issues.

    The game plays almost exactly like the first Legend of Heroes. That is to say, old school turn based battles, lots of dialogue (the translation has improved from LoH1 but is still dodgy in places) and lots of pointless sidequests to bulk out the cliched, but decently told, story. The gameplay is perfectly acceptable with very short loading times. However, spells still take a while to cast, slowing down battles and the annoying perspective change that happened in the first game(the main character runs sideways instead of interacting with them) when you're trying to talk to a shopkeeper still hasn't been fixed. It can also sometimes be annoying to find the right person to talk to to progress the plot, although the lively towns with loads of talkative npcs are probably one of LoH2's strongest ...

    One of the greatest role-playing games of the 00's

    One of the best handheld RPGs there is. The PSP was littered with so many good ones; Legend of Heroes will not let you down. Fantastic story; very compelling

    Ok RPG romp

    If you like the first version, you will like this as it is basically the same. The best thing about the game is the almost zero loading time when you go between screens which is so common with other PSP games. The game is a standard RPG affair. Nothing fancy or new here, but still good fun. I only wish they had treasure chests like in the first game...
