Nice affordable set that actually works, hand coordination required
Nice set. Started with a 3 hone set and added the hones I needed. The case accommodates 5 hones no matter which set you buy. Additional hones come with no rods for some reason but the case has a place for more. Hardest thing is guessing the correct hone angle, just start at the lowest and work up from there. The great thing about the system is it holds the correct angle for the best effect. Built well with finger grips on the hone backside giving a sure grip. Once the rods are aligned (required process, none of mine lined up) you're good to go. I may order a stand. Holding the clamp in my hand works but a stand would be nice. Nice set. Lansky sharpening system
A friend of mine had one and used it to sharpen my pocket knife. The results were excellent. Found it on ebay, bought it. I read the instructions first and tried it on my favorite kitchen knife. When finished I tried to cut old soft tomato that I was going to throw out. Knife went through it like a razor. I now have full set of very sharp kitchen knives and I keep a box of band-aids close by. Love it.A friend of mine had one and used it to sharpen my pocket knife. The results were excellent. Excellent tool
I bought this mainly to sharpen pocket knives. A friend of mine uses one and it did a wonderful job, so I bought one. I have discovered it does well sharpening utility blades and does a excellent job sharpening my expensive kitchen knives also. I wish I would have bought one sooner.

Look sharp; be sharp
I started using the original Lansky Sharpening System way back in the 80's. Once I perfected my technique (the secret is using a power buffer to hone the edges) I did so many knives I wore the stones out! Then I made the mistake of buying a diamond knockoff from a big box store. The imitation Lanskys worked OK but soon the diamond abrasive wore off, rendering the imposters toothless. Then along came this original Lansky set. What a boon to accurate and long-lasting sharpening! I bought all the grits as so many knives are hand-ruined and terrible so must be painstakingly brought to sharp starting with the most coarse. I still have my hard Arkansas, black stone for the final rubdown, but seldom use it. My 8" buffer with SS polish finishes most blades better than any strop or hone ... I started using the original Lansky Sharpening System way back in the 80's. The best company on the market
This Lansky sharpener is the best starter kit. You can add additional stones later like diamond and utility. You can also buy a fully loaded kit with 5 stones as well. This kit has the 3 most used stones that everyone would use. Using it with the "super C-clamp" accessory makes sharpening enjoyable and not a chore.
