À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Sessions of Skate take place in a fictitious world called San Vanelona and are designed to offer gamers a realistic skateboarding experience. Players pick from a roster of characters that include Danny Way and PJ Ladd, and then explore the city while using the triggers and analog sticks to perform a wide variety of tricks and jumps. The goal is to become a famous skater, unlock hidden skating areas, and anger the security guards in the "no skate" zones. Gamers must draw from their real-life skills as a way to improve their avatar instead of upgrading a character through missions to increase their abilities. Rather than placing ramps around the environment, EA invites gamers to explore the ledges, dropins, funboxes, and rails around the urban landscape. Because the game is intended to challenge players, a full replay mode allows gamers to view that sweet backside bigspin they finally landed. While reviewing their moves players can adjust the speed and camera angles and then save them for others to download.

  • Mature review of Skate (Xbox 360)

The mechanics in Skate are marvelous to one such as myself, with the only skating games behind me being from the Tony Hawk franchise. Focusing tricks with the right analog stick, grabs with the left and right triggers, and accelerating with the 'A' button, pulling off impressive stunts comes off naturally. The environment is gorgeous for being a skating game, reminding me of Mirror's Edge more so than anything else I can think of. This franchise has certainly pulled many gamers away from the THPS tour with its innovation and realism; it allows skates to pull off tricks on the ground, every trick can be performed right away without having to fill up a silly bar, and customizing your skaters appearance with real merchandise from skating brands are all features that are new to this game ...

  • Skate provides an excellent amount of entertainment.

First, let me get the few flaws out of the way. The game has an annoying camera angle, and sometimes it can get very frustrating that you're not able to get off your skateboard and walk (like in Tony Hawk's Underground). But it's not too hard to get over the flaws once make your first ollie. The feeling of accomplishing an ollie with a flick of a joystick rather than a button is thrilling. You'll quickly (relatively) pick up on gameplay as you go along the very large are of "San Van". In just a few hour to a couple days, you'll be flawlessly pulling of 3,000 point combos. All in all, Skate is an excellent game. If the developers spend a little more time actually playing the game themselves, they would have figured out how frustrating it is to not be able to walk up the stairs by getting ...

  • Watch out Tony Hawk-Here comes much needed change!

If you have played Tony Hawk, which I know you have, you are familiar with skateboard game mechanics. Unlike Tony Hawk, which relies mostly on button combinations, skate utilizes a unique control scheme called Flickit. To push off on your board and gather speed, you hit or hold the X and/or A button-x or A controls left or your right foot to push. Once you get rolling, you perform tricks by flicking the right analog stick around in various directions. For ollies, you pull down then push straight up, for kickflips you push up diagonally and pop shuvits require a Street Fighter II fireball motion. Grab tricks are a little different: the left and right triggers activate your skater's left or right hand for grabs and you can "tweak" the board for different tricks like Christ Airs by moving ...

  • A great alternative to Tony Hawk

Skate is a great game to add to your collection. With its great control system it is a great alternative to Tony Hawk. It is also alot more realistic, as you cannot do a backflip christ air 360 flip to dark slide kickflip nosegrind manual shuvit smithgrind..... yada yada yada(if you play tony hawk, you know what i mean). While you can still link tricks, it is much more realistic. A nice touch is the combo bonus. If you skate a nice line and continually link tricks you get a combo of 1.5x,2x,or 3x. Keep that up and you can rack up points easily. The only thing that lacks is probably the rag doll physics of the game. Whenever you fall you instantly rag doll. The goals are also repetitive, and some seem too easy to complete. But still Skate is a great game, you should get it.

  • A- maybe

Fun game, but controls are hard to get used to. Doesn't follow previous game controls, but instead all used in the joy stick. I am not sure if you can switch controls around, but it is hard to have to do everything from the right joystick when you use the right buttons for everything else. It make you scramble to get the big air you always want off of a half pipe. It would be nice to have controls like Tony Hawk. The graphics are amazing, and it has a funny video in the begining. I also enjoy the realist gameplay when you hit stuff. It is one of the first games where you have to ollie over stuff or wipe out. Good job EA.
