Synopsis
#1 New York Times Bestseller Peter Schweizer has been fighting corruption--and winning--for years. In Throw Them All Out, he exposed insider trading by members of Congress, leading to the passage of the STOCK Act. In Extortion , he uncovered how politicians use mafia-like tactics to enrich themselves. And in Clinton Cash , he revealed the Clintons' massive money machine and sparked an FBI investigation. Now he explains how a new corruption has taken hold, involving larger sums of money than ever before. Stuffing tens of thousands of dollars into a freezer has morphed into multibillion-dollar equity deals done in the dark corners of the world. An American bank opening in China would be prohibited by US law from hiring a slew of family members of top Chinese politicians. However, a Chinese bank opening in America can hire anyone it wants. It can even invite the friends and families of American politicians to invest in can't-lose deals. President Donald Trump's children have made front pages across the world for their dicey transactions. However, the media has barely looked into questionable deals made by those close to Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John Kerry, Mitch McConnell, and lesser-known politicians who have been in the game longer. In many parts of the world, the children of powerful political figures go into business and profit handsomely, not necessarily because they are good at it, but because people want to curry favor with their influential parents. This is a relatively new phenomenon in the United States. But for relatives of some prominent political families, we may already be talking about hundreds of millions of dollars. Deeply researched and packed with shocking revelations, Secret Empires identifies public servants who cannot be trusted and provides a path toward a more accountable government., #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! • Everybody that goes to Washington does so to get rich

There are many many elected people in Washington that should have been exposed. Peter sweizer could write another book covering all the senators & congress people that has gotten rich since being in office, people like Maxine waters, Harry Reed, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein and too just a few.

  • These "empires" need to be investigated NOW!

Heard a lot about this book prior to ordering my copy. It proved to be as explosive as previously mentioned. I can't believe that our government or law enforcement haven't pursued an investigation of parties and countries mentioned. Some of our politicians and their children are making big money on a daily basis while the rest of us live paycheck to paycheck.

  • Interesting But Depressing

Just one more book telling how corrupt and self-serving our politicians have become. They serve the American people for only one reason-to get the votes to stay in power, so they can further use their connections and power to enrich themselves. This book explains this all with concrete examples from both sides of the aisle. America needs to wake up!

  • Serious expose of elected officials who do not deserve the voters' trust.

The voting public expects their elected officials to serve the peoples' business with integrity. This book exposes massive abuses of public trust in exchange for person gain. Sadly, the conduct of many of our elected officials continue to destroy our faith in -- and, the very function of -- government.

  • A must read for anyone who wants to be aware

10 STARS....I bought this book because I thought I would enjoy it. OMG--I'm not finished with it yet but I think this may be the best book ever written by Peter Schweizer. and quite possibly the best book I've ever read, and I've read countless books
